The CDC, once a model for health agencies worldwide, has been totally integrated into the political establishment during the #COVID19 pandemic. As with both capitalist political parties, it serves the interests of the corporate and financial elite. 1/
The universal use of high quality N95 or better masks & elastomerics is a cornerstone of the elimination strategy, which is the only viable strategy to stop the pandemic and save millions of lives worldwide. There is no scientific argument against this. 2/ wsws.org/en/articles/20…

Capitalist politicians are scrapping all #COVID19 mitigation measures globally. Many have done so by falsely claiming that COVID has become “endemic” with the implication that the virus is now no more harmful than the flu or even the common cold. 1/

The term “endemic” implies a predictable and controllable level of disease in a given region. The trajectory of the pandemic is the exact opposite. In just over 2 months, Omicron infected 140+ million people and excess deaths reached 41,200/day Monday. 2/ economist.com/graphic-detail…
Contrary to the claims that letting Omicron rip through society will produce “endemicity” and “natural immunity,” there are now growing signs that the BA.2 Omicron subvariant could cause another global surge in cases in the coming weeks. 3/

Yesterday I was blocked by Monica Gandhi after commenting on her thread opposing the fight to eliminate #COVID19. Unable to respond to my arguments, she chose to restrict my ability to comment and inform her followers about the science of elimination. 1/
In her tweet, she mocked the “lament on twitter today that COVID zero could have been possible," falsely claiming, “it is actually the properties of the virus itself that make that impossible.” Here is my reply, which was beyond the pale for Dr. Gandhi. 2/
The article I shared is the first serious review of China's #ZeroCovid. It provides a highly detailed examination of the public health measures pursued there, which have kept infections and deaths near zero since April 2020. 3/

Despite the horrific level of infections, hospitalizations and deaths among children, which #Omicron threatens to intensify even further, the entire political establishment, corporate media and the teachers unions insist that schools must stay open. 1/ wsws.org/en/articles/20…
In almost all the print and broadcast news, there is a concerted effort to disarm the population and prematurely declare the Omicron variant “milder” than previous variants of the virus. They rely on limited and initial data to make sweeping, baseless claims. 2/
While the precise severity of this latest Frankenstein monster will be shown in time, the surge of hospitalizations and warnings from scientists in South Africa indicate that Omicron will likely be as severe as other variants, if not more so due to its higher transmissibility. 3/
