#G7 statement on #PutinsWar:
We, the Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) are appalled by and condemn the large-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation against the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, directed partly from Belarusian soil.
This unprovoked and completely unjustified attack on the democratic state of Ukraine was preceded by fabricated claims and unfounded allegations. It constitutes a serious violation of international law and a grave breach of the United Nations Charter and all commitments.
Russia entered in the Helsinki Final Act and the Charter of Paris and its commitments in the Budapest Memorandum. We as the G7 are bringing forward severe and coordinated economic and financial sanctions. We call on all partners and members of the international community to
condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms, to stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine, and raise their voice against this blatant violation of the fundamental principles of international peace and security.
This crisis is a serious threat to the rules-based international order, with ramifications well beyond Europe. There is no justification for changing internationally recognised borders by force. This has fundamentally changed the Euro-Atlantic security situation.
Putin has re-introduced war to the European continent. He has put himself on the wrong side of history. We are committed to uphold peace, stability and international law. We are united in our support for the people of Ukraine and its democratically elected government.
In this dark hour, our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine. We stand ready to support with humanitarian assistance in order to mitigate the suffering, including for refugees and displaced persons from the Russian aggression.
We call on the Russian Federation to stop the bloodshed, to immediately de-escalate and to withdraw its forces from Ukraine. We also call on Russia to ensure the safety of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission.
We also condemn the involvement of Belarus in this aggression against Ukraine and call on Belarus to abide by its international obligations. We condemn in the strongest possible terms Vladimir Putin’s decision on February 21 to recognise the Donetsk and Luhansk self-declared
entities in eastern Ukraine as “independent” states as well as his decision to send Russian military forces into these regions. We call on other states not to follow Russia’s illegal decision to recognize the proclaimed ‘independence’ of these entities.
The decision by Putin is a grave violation of the basic principles enshrined in the UN Charter, in particular the respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of states and also a blatant breach of UN Security Council resolution 2202—
supported by the Russian Federation as a permanent member of the Security Council—as well as of the Minsk agreements, which stipulate the return of the areas concerned to the control of the Ukrainian Government.
We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders and territorial waters as well as the right of any sovereign state to determine its own future and security arrangements.
We reaffirm that illegally occupied Crimea and the self-declared “people’s republics” are an integral part of Ukraine.
We condemn Putin for his consistent refusal to engage in a diplomatic process to address questions pertaining to European security, despite our repeated offers.
We stand united with partners, including NATO, the EU and their member states as well as Ukraine and remain determined to do what is necessary to preserve the integrity of the international-rules base order.
In this regard, we are also closely monitoring global oil and gas market conditions, including in the context of Russia’s further military aggression against Ukraine.
We support consistent and constructive engagement and coordination among major energy producers and consumers toward our collective interest in the stability of global energy supplies, and stand ready to act as needed to address potential disruptions.

I’m going to start putting together a thread of @GOP officials using their elected office to attack their own country during a crisis. Let’s start with the abomination that is @RepStefanik.

The @GOP gave up on offering legislative solutions a long time ago. Now, their platform consists of generating outrage through either non-existent problems or ones they have deliberately exacerbated by undermining the Biden administration, then blaming Biden for not fixing them.
For example, you’ll be hearing “Bidenflation!” from now until the midterms. Is it Biden’s doing? No. Republicans gave $2 trillion in tax cuts to billionaires and repeatedly refused to provide or extend relief for working families all so they could blame Biden for inflation.
They also banned, blocked, or outlawed all common sense health precautions against COVID so they could blame Biden for not ending the pandemic. They’re still screaming “UNMASK OUR KIDS” and “END THE MANDATES” daily. If doing so is a disaster, which they want, they’ll blame Biden.

If you’re a white person who says the n-word in 70 podcast episodes, you’re a fucking racist.
.@Spotify did not remove @joerogan’s episodes when he used that word 70 TIMES. Nor did they decide he wasn’t someone they wanted to host. They did it only *after* @patriottakes drew attention to it. This tells you all you need to know about them & and his listeners.

And please spare me the “censorship,” “cancel culture,” and “free speech” B.S. Even if he gets booted from Spotify, Rogan will be someone who can independently reach millions with his podcast; the right invented cancel culture; and free speech ≠ freedom from consequences.

The right thinks Biden is “Temper Tantrum Joe” because he calmly & accurately described a man with no business being in the WH briefing room and whose job is solely to ask deliberately stupid questions? Sure guys. FYI this is what temper tantrums look like
Also important to note that calling a guy out who by every objective measure is a stupid son of a bitch is a far cry from demonizing the press as a whole, endorsing violence against them, teargassing them; and offering to pay legal fees for assaulting them
One of Trump’s most consistent themes as a candidate and as a “President” was his violent rhetoric toward the press, which is literally the only profession listed as protected under the First Amendment because it’s such a core part of democracy:

Donald Trump Jr. met with Russian spies in Trump Tower; Eric said they get most of their funding from Russia; Trump got impeached (the 1st time) for trying to extort the Ukrainian President to fabricate dirt on the Bidens; & Trump took Putin’s word over our intelligence agencies.
Mueller documented 14 instances in which Trump committed obstruction of justice in interfering with his investigation. We watched him fire Comey; purge officials from the FOJ, FBI, and DNI. We watched him be subservient to Putin in every interaction, never once criticizing him.
Trump’s business dealings with Russia went back to the late 1980’s (even before the rest of the @GOP was compromised); they laundered money through his shitty hotels, golf courses, & properties & gave him hundreds of millions in loans when no American banks would lend him money.

She may not be able to be primaried until 2024, but Kyrsten Sinema’s political career ended Wednesday, January 19th, 2022.
For the “she doesn’t care” people, I know that she doesn’t care. That’s not the point. If she was capable of caring, the filibuster would be gone and we’d have voting rights protections; Roe would be codified; Build Back Better would be passed; the child tax credit extended, etc.
Not everything I tweet about people is going to be something they’re unaware of or emotionally impacted by. In this case, Sinema likely knows her career in politics is over and doesn’t seem to care at all. It’s still worth saying. And expanding our majority to make her irrelevant
