🐻: People often say mornings are a very precious time - we can use the morning to set a good start for the day, so eating breakfast is really important! Although I often don’t eat it haha…what does everyone like to eat for breakfast? Send in messages and let us know!
Now playing “When I fall in love” by Primary ft. Meego, SURAN
🐻: recently a lot of ppl are busy with work/school, so they don’t have breakfast, but it’s rly not great for your health…although I’m not one to give this advice haha I hope everyone will continue to eat breakfast to have a great start of your day!
🐻: for me…there is usually no such thing as “morning” LOL (T/N: bc he gets up so late lol)
A listener said the miss the scallion noodles(?) and soy milk near their hometown
🐻: ah that reminds me of when I was in elementary school right by my house everyday- idk if other areas had it but in Fujian there was this deep fried pancake with meat, radish, mustard greens, etc. I really loved eating it 😋
Another listener said like eating various dim sum at restaurants like shumai, custard buns, etc. paired with a glass of chocolate milk
🐻: ah all these things our listener likes I like eating as well! Wah~ later I’ll have to discuss this in detail with Zhen ge
~Today’s TMI~
OP said they feel the weather is warmer now and they can say goodbye to winter. Bc of certain reasons, OP is taking medicine which makes them feel lethargic, but when they saw spring is coming today their mood got better
🐻: that’s right - spring is coming! The +
+ weather is getting warmer, but there’s still a big temperature difference at night, so everyone you still must take care of your health and bundle up! Remember this phrase “if you get cold, it’s easy to get sick. Even if you get a little too hot, you won’t get sick easily so+
+ please don’t catch cold!”
Next OP went to a live performance and really wants to see WayV’s offline concert and see Kun soon~
🐻: That’s right~ I’ve said it many times I want to have an offline concert too 😅 but it’s not the right time yet (t/n: p*ndemic) so hoping we can see+
~Free Talk~
Guozhen and Kun were talking about how today was the first time they’re hearing the new bgm and it rly feels like a change (since last week it was prerecorded) and little tree hole had been almost a year old
🐻: guozhen what did you eat for breakfast?
🤓: I…didn’t eat breakfast haha I saw these stats on how 58% of 20-40 year olds in korea don’t eat breakfast…so I am part of the majority haha
🐻: ahh that’s a pretty big percentage
🤓: some people would sacrifice breakfast for 5 extra mins of sleep. A lot of ppl start work around 9-10am but we’ll eat lunch at 12pm so
🐻: right they’re rushing. When we went to school and woke up a round 7-8am, we had to eat breakfast because there was still 5hrs before lunch
🤓: more importantly - we had moms making us breakfast LOL
🐻: right my mom always told me to go to the store downstairs to get breakfast haha
A listener asked if they liked 饅頭 (steamed buns)
🐻: seems like a lot of foreign friends like steamed buns!
🤓: ah and they seem to see it as dessert so I’m curious about it
🐻: personally I don’t often eat it much~ but I know a tasty way to eat it is with white rice congee!
Guozhen said he first liked eating steamed buns in 6th grade when he tried it with 腐乳 (Fermented bean curd) idk if I heard that correctly, but I think that’s what it was…and Kun said the ones his grandma makes are super yummy. Guozhen said he spread it on the bun like jam
Kun said his grandma always makes several jars of fermented bean curd around New Years and passes it out to his dad, uncles, etc.
Next listener talked about Hong Kong style breakfast dim sum foods and Kun said he knows there’s a few near/inside coex because he really likes to eat this too, so he searched around for places in korea
🐻: before, we also looked for places we could order delivery from!
Guozhen talked about the carts they push around at dim sum restaurants and once he ate with his friend and sent a photo of the plates after they finished and his friend was like “did u go with like 10 people” bc of the number of plates they ate but it was only 2 people LOL
🐻: PD jiejie is asking us to hurry up and wrap it up but I don’t want to LOL I don’t want to play songs today (and just keep chatting) 😆
🤓: they said they’ve almost forgotten this is a music radio show LOL
🐻: no worries let’s just talk more 😆 they like it they like it!
Next listener talked about chicken congee and vegetable 年糕 (rice cake) with eggs and how they‘ll eat these if they get up early enough, although they don’t these days since they get up around 11 for school. OP also sent photos for them! Guozhen and Kun noted how it looks+
+ very suitable as breakfast food bc Kun mentioned earlier how he doesn’t like rly dry foods for breakfast and likes foods that are more soupy that you can eat comfortably.
🐻: there’s something near my hometown called…i forget it’s been too long since I’ve been there haha…
🐻: we always miss our hometown food the most when we’re away! Hbu guozhen- WAIT someone in the comments mentioned it - it’s 鍋邊糊 (guo bian hu) this stuff is really good.
🤓: ooh I’ll have to look it up later!
🐻: Sorry I interrupted you haha
Kun and guozhen said it feels like they’re on a home network shopping show where they’re selling things/endorsing products LOL
Next OP said their fave breakfast food is “米粉” (rice noodle) made by their mom and how it’s comforting to eat a big bowl of soupy rice noodles right+
+after they wake up. OP said although the ingredients are very normal, once it passes through their mom’s hands it becomes something delicious. They’ve been studying outside for a month now and miss it a lot~
🐻: ah…to be able to eat something your mom makes for breakfast is a very fortunate thing. There’s something in Fujian called “麵線” (aka misua) which are very thin noodles that you have to eat quickly. You make a pot of chicken stock/soup and then put in hte noodles. It’s quite
+ bland so I don’t particularly like it…idk why that’s the first thing that comes to mind haha. I think it’s bc my mom always makes it when I go back home and she doesn’t make breakfast often bc we usually just eat bread and drink milk.
🐻: Sometimes out of the blue she’ll make this knowing I don’t rly like it and go “Bin ah~ wake up! Eat a bowl of noodles~”
🐻: ah a tmi is my mom calls me “Bin ah~” I had a nickname called “Bin Bin” (from 彬彬有礼) so my mom would say “BIN AH~ WAKE UP AT EAT NOODLES” 😂
🐻: noodles get soggy if u let them sit for a while so I really do get up and eat them haha
🤓: ah chicken soup is rly nourishing so maybe that’s why she continued making it occasionally 😆 (knowing kun didn’t like it)
Guozhen said his mom didn’t make a ton of delicious food, but made nice looking food instead LOL sometimes she’d make fruit milk like strawberry milk with strawberry slices placed aesthetically in a clear glass
(T/N: ah so Guozhen had a Pinterest mom good to know 😂)
🤓: she did it before it was trendy 😌 I was in elementary school like 20 years ago LOL
🐻: there was a time when I rly liked drinking this probiotic(?) dairy drink blended with bananas and kiwi into a juice for breakfast haha 🥛🍌🥝
🐻: it didn’t always have bananas tho - sometimes just the drink with strawberries or oranges! It was rly tasty~
Next listener talked about Japanese breakfast which is natto with raw eggs and steamed rice and pickled plums. OP said they had this often at their grandparents place and haven’t seen them in a while bc of the p*ndemic and misses them a lot
Guozhen talked about how natto is rly good for ur health like lowering blood pressure
🐻: ah i haven’t tried it before!
🤓: my dad ate it for a while bc of the health benefits and I tried it too - I rly like bean types of food to begin with, so +
+ it wasn’t too strange to me when I tried it. We add a bunch of things and sauces so it also masks the original taste a bit more
🐻: I saw them eat natto a lot in the crayon shin chan cartoon and at that time I didn’t know what it was - I thought it was sweet and they mixed in condensed milk. 🥲 they mixed it a lot and the stringy-ness looked like it was delicious +
🐻: the first time I encountered natto was when I came to Korea. There was a trainee who especially liked eating it, so I saw him eat it often but as soon as I got a whiff of it i was like “nope I can’t” 😅 it was completely different from my initial impression of natto
Guozhen says he doesn’t eat natto with rice and just eats it directly and prefers it like that. Kun said a lot of ppl like it that way! They also talked about mixing raw egg with rice and Guozhen said that with a little soy sauce tastes pretty good but+
+ Kun said he probably wouldn’t be used to it. He can dip meat in raw egg when eating sukiyaki but not so much eating raw egg with rice haha. Guozhen said it’s maybe just the slimy texture lol
Next week’s topic is “memories or things you do when school starts” (bc it’s the last week of Feb and March is starting 🥲 where did the month go my god)
🐻: our time is about up today! Hope everyone will continue tuning in at 9pm tomorrow for akseo brought to you by Kun~ lastly, we’ll play “Naked” by Christopher. See you tomorrow~ bye bye!

[220226] Akdong Seoul Weekly Highlights~
Ah seems like today’s segment is hosted by LanLan jie! 🥺 No kun today, but LanLan will feature highlights from the Mon-Fri akseo programs~
LanLan said TMIs are one of her favorite segments and shared a TMI when she just came to korea, her korean wasn’t that great but she went to a cake shop so she tried ordering by pointing to a menu and the shop owner asked “Name?” meaning name of the cake +
+ but LanLan misunderstood and was thinking “why do I have to give my name while ordering a cake in korea?” but gave them the benefit of the doubt and told the shop owner “LanLan” 😭😂 kdsldf she ordered a LanLan cake hehe 🍰
Kun said he’s both looking forward and not looking forward to it
🐻: I’m someone who likes living in the present, so I think life in reality will be better than in virtual life bc you can experience different feelings, tastes, food…ah the first thing I think about is food 😆
Help what did OP say in korean Kun just took off his jacket mid sentence LOL

Kun talked about how sometimes we might see other accomplishing a lot and feel sad about not doing as much in comparison, but we should’ve give up on ourselves bc we all have our own path to happiness and success!

🐻: Trust is like a piece of paper - if it get’s wrinkled/creased it won’t be able to go back to it’s original state. So don’t kid around with your credibility! If you lost it, it will be hard to gain back
(T/N: again, this is generic advice in the script)
