Ron DeSantis is a weak ineffective coward who makes empty moves to try to fictionally portray himself as a strongman. If you call him a "dictator" and such, just so you can be outraged at him, you're HELPING him. Want to defeat him? Expose him as the weakest loser in the nation.
Think it through. DeSantis WANTS to be seen as a dictator / authoritarian. If you feed that narrative, even in order to bash him, then you're working full time for DeSantis. You're his de facto publicist. You just don't know it, because you don't realize it's WHAT HE WANTS.
Most liberal pundits spend every day brainwashing us into believing that the only way to deal with someone like DeSantis (Trump, Putin, etc) is to sit around fretting about how "dangerous" he is. BUT THAT HELPS HIM. You're a moron if you think that's how political activism works.
And yes, most political pundits – on tv and twitter – want you to be morons. They want you to sit there paralyzed in fear and stare at the screen. They want you to think that fretting is "activism." They want you think you're only being "vigilant" if you're cowering like babies.
100% of our messaging about DeSantis should be about what a laughably inept FAILED governor he is. He's an asshole with deranged views. He's criminally corrupt. And he fucks up everything he touches. THAT is the message that will defeat him in Florida in 2022.
Some of you are so addicted to outrage, you WANT DeSantis to win, and your own side to lose, so you can feel even more outrage. You belong in mental treatment. Please delete your account and go get help now.
The REST of us need to be smarter about what activism actually is.
Calling DeSantis a "dictator" or "authoritarian" is not going to cause a single person to go out and vote against him. Didn't work when the right did it to Obama. Didn't work when the left did it to Trump. Persuadable voters just tune those words out. It's a 100% losing strategy.
Do you the Ukrainians sitting around fretting about how "dangerous" Putin is? No! They're doing everything they can to paint him as weak and vulnerable. Sure enough, persuadable nations agreed to get on board with trying to take Putin down.
If the Ukrainians had spent the past weekend painting Putin as a strong man just so they could feel outrage toward him, while fretting about how they're going to lose, there would be no Ukraine by now. When you go that route, you forfeit, and you instantly lose.
The only reason we defeated Trump in 2020 is that 10% of our side spent the entire election cycle fighting and winning, even as the other 90% of our side either fretted like losers the whole time, or just rooted for their own side to lose so they could feel more outrage.
For the past year, the media and the pundits – particularly on the left – have been trying to brainwash us into believing that Trump is somehow more powerful than ever. Why? So we'd stare paralyzed in fear at the screen and fret, so they'd hit their ratings marks.
Now that most people on our side can finally see Trump is completely washed up, the media and the pundits are trying to portray DeSantis as the new "authoritarian dictator" who can only be dealt with by staring at our screens all day and idly fretting about how omnipotent he is.
But if you want to defeat DeSantis, or finish off Trump, or take down Putin, or take down anyone else who's trying to get ahed by being seen as a strongman, our ONLY strategy is to destroy that person's effort to paint himself as a strongman.

Vladimir Putin is "frustrated and directing unusual bursts of anger at people in his inner circle," per NBC News. We're watching Putin unravel in real time. Now is the time to ratchet things up. Let's put even more financial pressure on the Russian oligarchs to finish him off.
What really stands out is that the U.S. has this information. Either we have a mole very high in Putin's regime, or we've bugged the most "secure" rooms in the Kremlin, or Putin's advisers have decided it's time for him to go and are leaking this stuff to us accordingly.
No way to know for sure, but at least one of the above type of scenarios must be true. More to the point, there's no way for Putin to know which of the age scenarios are true. Does he start tearing out the walls, taking out his advisers?
Among the people who actually watch the State of the Union, few stay tuned in for the other party's rebuttal. Even fewer watch the followup speeches from fringe members of the President's own party. Who cares who all gives a followup speech? The whole thing is a non-story.
For one thing, the SOTU rebuttal is a dead end. If you give a solid speech, you get no attention. If you do something dumb (Rubio / water, Ernst / plastic bags, etc), your career trajectory stops right there. It's why the GOP is sending a loser like Kim Reynolds out there.
Most of the people who want to hear the rebuttal aren't going to sit through a SOTU from a President they hate, just to hear the rebuttal. And no one knows what time the rebuttal is going to start, so no one tunes in just for that. The rebuttal only goes viral if you screw up.
The pundits yelling “we’re getting nuked for sure” are getting all the retweets, TV bookings, and critical praise for “bravely telling it like it is.” And when they’re proven wrong, they’ll pay no price. There’s always 100% upside, and no downside, for pushing doomsday hysteria.
The pundits will keep feeding you this doomsday hysteria bullshit, and the media will keep amplifying and praising it, until you stop enjoying the taste of it. For career reasons, they have to feed you what you’re hungry for, even if they know it’s bullshit.
Even if these doomsday pundits are right (which they somehow never are), their advice on how to deal with impending doom is for you to sit there and stare at your screen in fear. The bad faith nature of their advice proves that they don’t believe their own premise to begin with.
Do you see the Ukrainians sitting around fretting about how "dangerous" Putin is? No! They're painting him as weak and vulnerable. Accordingly, persuadable nations agreed to get on board with trying to take Putin down.
Liberal activists in America need to learn this strategy.
Fortunately in America we don't have to dodge bombs and convince other nations to work with us. All we have to do is use our voices to convince persuadable voters to side with us. But we do that with the exact same mindset the Ukrainians are taking toward Putin.
The people in the middle, the people who don't have a side, the people who sit back and wait for a cause they like to come along, love siding with a clear winner.
Ukraine has won over the world by making everyone see that it should win, and that it CAN win.
You never cut off diplomatic channels, even in war, if you can help it. It’s important to note that the United States has kicked 12 Russian diplomats out of the UN, not as an arbitrary punitive measure, but because they were caught doing disqualifying things (most likely spying).
Putin has a history of putting spies in diplomatic positions in order to give them cover, and the U.S. has a history of monitoring Russian diplomats as if they were spies. This is nothing new in that sense.
The U.S. possibly already knew Russia’s UN diplomats were spies, and instead of expelling them, merely monitored them to see what could be learned. If so, why expel them now? It weakens Russia’s ability to influence the current UN general assembly.
I get Putin keeping his own advisers at the far end of the table. One of them could be trying to take him out. But Putin also made up a silly excuse to sit 20 feet from Macron, who obviously wasn’t going to poison him. This all suggests Putin could be physically ill.
The shortest answer would be fear of covid (the excuse he used with Macron). But why keep friends AND foes at the far end of a 20 foot table? Putin can surely have his own people tested for covid before he’s in a room with them, as a lot of world leaders have been doing.
And why would Putin suddenly have paranoia about covid now, at this late date? Covid is not over, but it’s certainly in a major downswing, in terms of spread and severity.
