Wir hören und sehen in der westlichen Berichterstattung kaum Bilder aus Luhansker / Donetsker Region. Dort sind die Kämpfe intensiv und die wenigen (offiziellen) Nachrichten besorgniserregend. Städte "brennen" oder sind "fast komplett" zerstört
Aus Charkiv kommen alleine heute morgen erschütternde Bilder und Berichte. Alleine heute morgen wurde kurz nach Ende der Sperrstunde der zentrale Platz beschossen. Es soll Tote geben (hier ein Video des Staatlichen Notfalldienstes) /1

Gestern noch während die 🇺🇦-🇷🇺 Unterhändler sprachen, wurde Charkiw massiv beschossen. Videos zeigen Streumunition und Gradraketen, die in und nahe Wohngebieten einschlagen. Eine europäische Großstadt wird vor unseren Augen in Schutt und Asche gelegt. /2

Meine Verwandten befinden sich in verschiedenen Teilen des Donbas und berichten vom ersten starken Beschuss Provinzhauptstadt Sjewjerodonezk. Dort hat sich die ukrainische Armee eingegraben und wird die Stadt verteidigen. /3
Heute melden, ukrainische Medien, dass die südliche Hafenstadt Mariupol umzingelt und ohne Strom sei. Die Stadt wurde nur teileweise evakuiert und dort sind noch sehr viele Zivilisten. /4

Wir sehen wir in Charkiw, aber insb. in der Luhansker Region, was dem Rest der #Ukraine noch bevorsteht. Heftiger Widerstand der ukrainischen Bodentruppen trifft auf die russische Überlegenheit, die rücksichtslos Artillerie, Raketen und Luftangriffe nutzt. /end
PS: Verwandte aus „Sievero“ meldeten uns gestern Nacht, dass die Stadt seit fast 7 Tagen keine Heizung mehr hat. Strom und Gas liefen bis gestern noch. Seit heute morgen haben wir den Kontakt verloren. Mobiles Internet scheint dort zusammengebrochen zu sein.

Zelenskyy said just this morning two cruise missiles hit the European city of Kharkiv, where more than 20 universities are there, the city with the highest number of universities. The missile hit Europe's largest square, the Freedom Square, where dozens were killed. /3

President Zelenskyy said the Russian shelling of Kharkiv, constitutes war crimes and added that “They are using terror trying to break us.” #Ukraine /1 Image
The 🇺🇦 president calls Russia a "terrorist state" and urges all states to respond to these "criminal tactics" and hold Russia accountable. /2
Zelenskyy said that Kharkiv and Kyiv remain the most important targets and said that Kyiv, as the heart of the state, will be defended at all cost. He also announced that Kyiv is now governed by a military administration announced but Klitschko remains mayor. /3

Quick update from Luhansk Oblast, where fighting rages on. 🇺🇦 forces have taken a defensive position in Sieverodonetsk, the regional capital. Friends and family tell me that there is A LOT of soldiers and equipment there and today the city experienced heavy shelling /1
The city was shelled today and one civilian was killed, two others wounded, according to the head of the regional administration. Meanwhile, the Russian forces are advancing from the south and east and possibly from the north. /2

Yesterday, locals in Svatove, in northern Luhansk, told me that 🇷🇺 advance forces had briefly entered the city, where at this point no Ukrainian forces were positioned. They literally had lunch in a local cafeteria and were told by locals that they are NOT welcome in the city. /3

The hopes for the 🇺🇦-🇷🇺 talks today were low. It seems this was more a preliminary talk to identify topics for further talks. Advisor to Zelenskyy Podoliak said as much in a short briefing and added that talks might resume “in the near future”.

Morning of the 5th day of the Russian invasion. Relatively quiet for the big cities other than Kharkiv (fighting all night, losses reported), rocket hit a living block in Chernihiv (1 wounded), fighting in Irpin near Kyiv. Kherson, Mykolaiv and yes Kharkiv remain 🇺🇦 controlled /1
Military Movement towards Svatove in northern Lunansk. Pincer movement on Sieverodonesk, capital of Luhansk region. Fighting heard near Mariupol (Donetsk region).
Military technics and movement reported from different locations in Zaporizhia, where Berdyansk fell yesterday. /2
At about 11 am Ukrainian time RU-UKR negotiations begin. On 🇺🇦 side Arakhamia, Reznikov, Podoliak and others including members from the TCG delegation participate. I have to say this is a relatively high ranking Ukrainian delegation. No such lineup from the Russian side /3
