Yesterday, Mona and the Menopause hit an ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME phase of the adventure. She put on blue eyeliner, red lipstick & other colours, and after recording solidarity message for Iranian #MeToo movement, took some THC & started rewatching The Sopranos 📷 @rerutled Mona from the waist up. She is wearing a black and white str
If you are on the Menopause Adventure, consider supporting the anthology I'm editing for @unbounders: pledge (like pre-ordering a book with rewards) or just share the link. There is a lot happening right now yes, and menopause is too, for many people unbound.com/books/bloody-h…
With an estimated 1.5 billion people who will experience menopause by 2025, who is speaking about menopause and who are the headlines targeting? It depends on where you are and who you are. wellandgood.com/fitness-wellne…
Some are calling it a revolution. As more celebrities talk about it & more articles appear.

A moment? A wave? A movement? Maybe! A moneymaker? Definitely, as one business after another launches, geared to a demographic apparently flush with cash and most likely with hot flashes
It is exactly when the once-whispered moves into the mainstream that it most matters who is speaking the once unsaid & who continues to be sidelined & silenced.

And that is why I'm so excited about contributors to #BloodyHell: global and gender expansive unbound.com/books/bloody-h…
As a feminist of colour who often must write what she has long wanted to read, I know what it’s like to rarely see yourself during those “moments,” “waves,” and “movements.” #BloodyHell
Too often when feminism takes that brave dive into the deep end of a taboo, it takes along just a select few: white, wealthy, cisgender, heterosexual, able-bodied women.

Bloody Hell! And Other Stories is the antidote. #BloodyHell #Menopause feministgiant.com/p/essay-bloody…
Their essays will, as the title promises, cover menopause from array of perspectives: early onset menopause, creating awareness & spaces for Black menopausal people, menopause & HIV, a trans man's experience, menopause's impact on sex drive, and many more. unbound.com/books/bloody-h…

A new study shows that women have experienced greater negative social and economic impacts of the #COVID19 pandemic than men.
theguardian.com/world/2022/mar… h/t @SChenHayes
The greatest & most persistent gender gap was seen in employment & uncompensated labour.

"In every part of the world, women experienced higher rates of employment loss than men since the start of pandemic."

26% of women reported loss of work vs 20% of men globally, Sept 2021
"Women and girls were also more likely to drop out of school and more likely to report an increase in gender-based violence than men and boys." #COVID19

After antics at #SOTU, I remind you the predictably-craven GOP leadership initially backed Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert’s male GOP opponents because party leaders thought the two women were extremists who did not stand a chance in primaries. feministgiant.com/p/a-white-supr…
MTG was dangerous & vile long before she was elected but because much of her vileness was directed at Muslims, Black people, and Jews, the GOP shrugged & carried on being craven shits they are, happy to throw their weight behind anyone who brings them votes feministgiant.com/p/if-marjorie-…
MTG & Boebert, like Trump, are not aberrations. They are fruition of GOP’s reliance on race, gender, and religion to keep white people in several parts of the U.S. - including the South - resolutely Republican and increasingly right wing. cbsnews.com/news/marjorie-…

After Roman Abramovich sells Chelsea, will Saudi and Emirati ownership of other football clubs then come under scrutiny? Fuck Putin. Yes. And also fuck autocrats and autocracy everywhere. #UkraineRussiaWar
I was ready to end my support of Manchester United when Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman expressed interest in buying the club. There are hideous amounts of money in modern football and horrendous ownership tied to that money. #Abramovich #Chelsea #UkraineRussiaWar
The #UkraineRussiaWar has brought up so many double and triple standards over whose lives matter, which autocracies must be fought, often by the very democracies that prop up other autocracies. And some of us are at the intersections of all this hypocrisy.

Who's about to watch #StateOfTheUnion?

What do you expect?
I don't know about you all, but I can't believe it was just a year ago that that fascist fuck Trump was droning on forever at the 2021 #StateOfTheUnion. It feels like it's been 10 years already.
A pandemic--and hello, it is not over--will do that to you.

I will be watching the #StateOfTheUnion tonight and I’m wondering if the speech writer has an equivalent to “Axis of Evil” that (and fuck that phrase) will be used by the US to capture this moment.
There’s a fucking global pandemic still. A lot of us who are saying fuck imperialism of all kinds and who obviously oppose the Russian invasion of Ukraine are being yelled at to fall into line if we don’t say exactly what we’re supposed to say about #UkraineRussiaWar
And some of us come from places the history of which is rife with the debris of the West vs Russia/USSR imperial enmity. And so many other historical empires. We say fuck off to US and Russian imperialism and increasingly today also Chinese imperialism.

A bill to enshrine the right to abortion in federal law was blocked by Senate Republicans and Joe Manchin on Monday. h/t @SChenHayes theguardian.com/world/2022/mar… #AbortionIsHealthcare
The U.S. Supreme Court is expected in June to decide a Mississippi case which could gut abortion rights nationally. I wrote this on the tag team of white, Christian women terrorists, legislators, attorneys general, governors, and judges who paved this path feministgiant.com/p/essay-the-te…
When Roe v Wade is overturned, (”if” is a pipedream at this stage), convicted terrorist Raychelle “Shelly” Shannon can claim that she firebombed a path for Mississippi AG Lynn Fitch, who is the face of a law that looks set to end the federally protected right to an abortion… 1/2
