During the night @klhumpf and I spent time in the basement due to #Tornado warnings. I don’t understand people who hang out near windows waiting for the funnel and then run to the basement. It’s playing w/ danger.
@KlHumpf When I was 10 years old, I was sitting in front of a TV when a transformer blew and the TV was busted. My grandpa was on the porch. He ran inside and hustled me and Grand mato the cellar.
@KlHumpf I will never forget the sound that followed: roaring and howling that went on and on. It was a straight line wind over 80 MPH. I can still hear it in my mind today 40 years later.
@KlHumpf My terror of weather has nothing to do with #Blindness and everything to do with what happened that night. It was the most awful sound I’ve ever heard and I never wish to hear it again.
@KlHumpf Going to the basement won’t make it less likely but I am safe there and it is one thing I know I can do. I am happy to do it, even in the middle of the night.
@KlHumpf People here get upset because the siren is used for severe thunderstorms. I have experienced a thunderstorm that produced wind that can kill. #HeedTheSirens

Here is something that has been discussed lately over coffee in this household as #COVID restrictions are lifted, b/c it has caused a lot of hurt to me and @KlHumpf. People don’t realize why and it is time to say it.
@KlHumpf A comment that we hear from time to time in varying forms is how important it is to see people’s faces again, look into each other’s eyes, etc.
Go ahead and enjoy your sight, but comments like this, in the face of the pandemic, are ableist.
