As funders hold critical conversations on how to best support #Ukraine, here's a 🧵for #philanthropy on where to start from👇🏽

p.s. updated list of #Feminist #Young #LBTQI #Disability justice orgs is here bit.ly/3sxtjOV
Whats needed -- Sensitivity and understanding of rapidly changing local contexts and how grassroots level organizing works (at the moment but also before the war) in order to provide an adequate response to the emergency in #Ukraine
Also, active listening to the needs of feminist, queer, disability rights organizers to deeply understand what kind of funding and the quality of support is essential to consistently address the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine
Acknowledgement of local support systems that have been established since the war first started in Ukraine in 2014. Grassroots based orgs know what they're doing, they have been working with IDPs for 8 years now!
TRUST in initiative groups & small scale orgs as they do the most critical work. They usually would not be on the radar of #philanthropy but prove to be highly impactful at the moment but also, ALWAYS.
'Funders must be ready to think outside of the box and open to non-conventional, non-traditional strategies and tactics' as Yosh from Feminist Workshop (Young feminist org in Lviv) says.
Build on the feminist intersectional analysis and approaches to the crisis response. There's a wealth of knowledge feminists have that can inform the most adequate and politically coherent choices #philanthropy will make with regards to #Ukraine
Be patient, caring and cautious, communities are in the survival mode, with very limited physical, mental and emotional capacity to respond long and nuanced questions, or to do background check ups/due diligence.
Flexible communications in Ukraine and Russian could speed up processes on both ends, not everyone speaks fluent english
None of the above mentioned is a rocket science, movements have been asking for embodied feminist approaches in communications, relationship building, openness and flexibility since the beginning of time. its up to #philanthropy now to take ACTIONS
