I don't think there's anything about *the game* that turns kids off from baseball. I'm biased (as baseball is my favorite sport), but aside from maybe endless boring pitching changes, I really don't think the game is the problem.
The problem is that the sport is almost exclusively marketed to old white guys and suffused with that demographic crankily talking about "unwritten" rules of decorum that take THE FUN out of the base game.
If I was "fixing" the game:
* Bat Flip highlight reel
* Strike Outs mean you have to sit in the stands till your next turn at bat, like a penalty box in hockey
* BIGGER strike zones to move the game along
* REDO THE BATTING ORDER at the start of the 9th inning.
