This boy from Kiev has brought his bird in a shoebox all the way to #krakow station. He barely had the energy to tell us where he was from. The strength of these kids is incredible #Ukraine#refugees#UkraineRussianWar
She (10) wants to become an English teacher – but she doesn’t speak a word of it. She had been traveling for over 65 hours to the border. Her mom couldn’t stop talking about the war but she remained calm and smiling.
Her favourite subject in school? All of them.
This girl kept sneaking away from her mom to a box of candies waiting at the Polish border. She carefully selected them until all her coat pockets were filled and she couldn’t carry any more. Only then she proudly posed for a picture - her mom was happy to see her smile
Sometimes the kids stand guard while mom sleeps. Her face says it all
She had just arrived in Poland by train. Their journeys often take days - including many different ways of unreliable transport. The trains are full and chaotic, with hardly a place to rest. This girl spotted my camera she didn’t let it out of her sight. #Ukraine#refugees
More pictures can be found (and continue to be posted) on my instagram as well: instagram.com/p/CasYZTLrunl/… thanks for all the responses, great to see all the support for these brave kids 🙏 if you can, please donate to verified initiatives helping refugees
What true exhaustion looks like. Took this picture at Krakow station. She’s with her family - planning where to go next. #krakow#ukraine#UkraineWar#refugees
She proudly let me inspect her newly acquired teddybears. Taken at the Polish border town Medyka. You can hear a pianist playing ‘here comes the sun’ in the background. #Ukraine️War#ukraine#refugees
