From Helsinki to the Northwest Territories, a global pond hockey tournament is aiming to raise money and awareness of the fight against climate change.

It all started while playing shinny at an outdoor rink in Helsinki. The players used to discuss how climate change was shortening the hockey season. They remembered longer, colder winters from their childhoods – it seemed obvious that winter was changing.

Ukraine’s defence minister has accused Russian forces of killing more civilians than soldiers, as new attacks struck a psychiatric facility and western airfields early Friday morning.

Among the targets was a psychiatric residential facility about 80 kilometres from Kharkiv region, leaving the Oskil psychoneurological residential institution “uninhabitable.”

No injuries were immediately reported, because staff had brought patients into a shelter after an air alert sounded a warning prior to the attack.
