Recent research shows some individuals have strong desires to incite chaos when they perceive themselves to be marginalized by society. These individuals tend to see chaos as a way to invert the power structure and gain social status in the process. royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/abs/10.109…
#FreedomConvoy2022 featured white supremacists & neo-Nazis mobilized under the guise of more popular grievances in order to further their agendas. Aside from overthrowing our duly elected gov't what were/are their agendas? What was gained by #illegaloccupations and #blockades?
Liberal Brains Might Have Some Real Differences. So what can the study of neural activity suggest about political behavior? Scanners try to watch the red-blue divide play out underneath the skull scientificamerican.com/article/conser…
Are those Canadians who participated in #freedomconvoys adherents to #trumpism? Are they now and have they been participants in the Canadian political process? Do they exercise their freedom to vote? Do they have a history of community building in the communities they live in? 🤔
Were those Canadians who participated in #freedomconvoys put out of jobs due to COVID and/or their refusal to be vaccinated? What have they done in their communities before & during the pandemic to better their lives and the lives of their neighbours that we can respect them for?
#yycbeltline 🧵I'd like to bring forward another POV on policing. I'm experienced in protesting & I don't support counter-protesting. If there were no counter-protestors there would be no potential for violence. The police would not have to separate 2 groups to prevent violence.
If you aren't counter-protesting on the street you can put city council, mayor & police on the hot seat. Where is the permit to protest? What conditions does it state? If there is no permit or conditions then why is that? How & when will the council & police act to restore peace?
Don't counter-protest on the streets. The city council & mayor, MLAs and Police Chief aren't being pressured to ensure Beltline residents have peaceful quiet enjoyment of their homes, streets & neighbourhood. Make them act, phone, email, write & don't give up.
🧵What is #rightwingextremism? A loose movement, characterized by a racially, ethnically and sexually defined nationalism. ... often framed in terms of white power, grounded in xenophobic exclusionary understandings of perceived threats posed by such groups as people of colour,
Jews, immigrants, the LGBTQ community and feminists.
Here are the 7 things you need to know: 1. COVID-19 had a significant impact on right-wing extremist activity in 2020. 2. Canadian right-wing extremists appear to be heavily influenced by US activity.
3. Right-wing extremist discussion of Canadian politics focused on Justin Trudeau and the New Democratic Party (NDP). 4. Right-wing extremists in Canada are drivers of disinformation.
🧵The CPC and NDP created a toxic parliamentary environment during a pandemic, exactly when we Canadians expected and deserved to see effective negotiation and collaboration to address our needs. Instead of being collaborators they were obstructionists resulting in this election.
Opposition MPs focused on solely on attacking the gov't in office and/or obstructionism are political misfits. Their antagonism neuters their ability to work collaboratively and produce results that benefit those whose interests they are elected to serve. They won't get my vote.
The CPC agenda is to expand by O'Toole becoming relevant and by creating a case for so called "moderate" or middle of the political road Canadians to vote CPC instead of Liberal. The CPC they do not have a close and honorable relationship with truth. And liars won't get my vote.
