People in the US are always complaining about too many laws, too many regulations... I use to be one until I realized without them people refuse to behave with honor, integrity and decency.
2/ 7
Without a law or a regulation formally written down, most Americans will not do the right thing on their own.
It is amazing that a country that values freedom so also eschews responsibility at the first opportunity.
You can not have freedom without responsibility
3/7
Given the opportunity, most people will simply not do the right thing...
Loopholes are nothing but a way to circumvent the meaning of the law.
I'd say 90% of all laws and regulations had to be put in place because of our lack of decency and integrity.
4/ 7
I mean there is actually legislation in the works to stop discriminating against people's hair... yes hair.
We had to pass an "anti-lynching" law and that took over 100 years
We still have a law allowing slavery!
We have to put "hot" labels on coffee!
5/ 7
We are worse than children.
We are a country of entitled brats.
We refuse to take responsibility for our actions
We want everything and refuse to do anything
And when things go wrong, we blame "others"
6/ 7
But at least we had lawmakers to make us do the right thing despite ourselves.
Today we have a new crop of elected officials, who are pushing laws to feed our grievances, feed into our selfishness, making laws rooted in our indecency.
7/ end
We are now using laws to do the wrong things with impunity, hell now we are criminalizing the good guys, the teachers, the doctors, librarians, loving parents, helpful neighbors...
We are no longer the land of the free
We are now the land of hate

I've been advocating that after finishing high school and yes before college, the youth of so-called first-world countries should spend a year or two in a so-called third-world country.
2/
Reading twitter these days has only reinforced that notion.
Although now I'm thinking maybe it's the generation above Gen-Z that would benefit most from this education.
3/
Living with limited means stimulates your creativity, you are able to deal with temporary discomfort and hardship better.
Living in 3rd world countries would also dim the rising tide of racism. I stayed "dim" not erase.

White people claiming to be the victims of racism are like rich people complaining they are being discriminated against because they don't get food stamps

White people have never experienced racism, maybe that's why they are confused about it
2/
Can black people make laws that remove the American revolution from the history books?
Can gays propose bills that make it illegal to say straight in schools?
Can we carry guns without being stopped or worse shot?
3/
The reason we had to create Black Colleges, Black Magazines, Black awards, Black History Month; wasn't to exclude whites, it was because blacks were not represented or their achievements recognized in white institutions.

America is so wrong it's scary.
It's not only the cops... it's the people that call the cops.
Teachers calling cops on 6 years olds? on autistic children?

I wasn't always woke

I grew up with prejudices and preconceived notions just like everyone else. I learned to judge people based on stereotypes that permeated my culture just like everyone else. I was an ignorant foolish girl.
My saving graces were my love of reading, my thirst for learning and listening.
When you love to read, you will read anything and thus you will read things that will open your mind and feed you new ideas to combat the ones you are taught and take for granted.
I too once thought that being part of the LGBTQIA+ community was a choice. And even though I'm black there was a time I thought blacks were lazy that's why they weren't rich... yes me I could have been a Candace Owen!

I keep hearing most Americans are not like that... Most Americans are not racists, sexists, extremists...
But where are these "Most Americans"?

Why are their voices not heard? Why are they not flocking to support candidates?
2/5
Why are the extremists the ones with the most followers?
Why are the hate-filled posts the most viral?
Why is the most money raised by the craziest?
Where are those "Most Americans"?
Where is their support?
3/5
"Most Americans" your absence and quiet are only fueling the rhetoric of hate.
They point to their numbers as a sign of them being right and it feeds upon itself.
"Most Americans" your lack of engagement is what will kill the American dream.

broken hearts
shattered souls
darkness gathers
all that withers
...

Pieces of dreams
slivers of hopes
cling in despair
to strings of light
...

amongst sorrow
between shadow
tears glimmer
in a shimmer
...

broken hearts
shattered souls
darkness gathers
all that withers
...
silence screams
cover your ears
the noise within
enough to tear
...

sobs escape
shoulders shake
still no sound
to heavens bound
...

broken hearts
shattered souls
darkness gathers
all that withers
...

hope shivers
light shimmers
tears glitter
life flickers
...
Darkness gathers
all that withers
broken hearts mend
shattered souls heal

Darkness is an empty void

... ... ... ... ... ....
