1/ Utility META: Inside vs Outside Ecosystem Investments
Since February the market has changed a lot and the vast majority of successful projects are tools, DeFi and other projects with real utility, however, there are some points to be considered🧵
This means projects are strictly dependent on the NFT market to be successful, some of these utility investments include:
ᐅ Launchpads
ᐅ Escrow
ᐅ Lending protocols to NFTs
ᐅ Marketplaces
ᐅ Organization Tools
ᐅ Alpha Groups
and others
3/ Inside Ecosystem - Questions
In these cases, you need to ask yourself if you truly believe in NFT market.
If you don't believe this, your assumptions reflect that these products do not solve a future need, and therefore you believe they will become worthless projects.
4/ Outside Ecosystem
This means projects that deliver goods and services are not strictly dependent on the NFT market to be successful
In these cases you always have to reflect:
ᐅ The valuation you are paying makes sense
ᐅ Why the project is launching an NFT vs VC/IDO money
5/ Outside Ecosystem
I am personally super interested in Outside Ecosystem projects that's why you have seen me talking about:
In my case, I believe in the market however I still see a lot of pain in front, therefore, I am looking to be peaky on the insider ecosystem and being more aggressive in searching for outside ones, and investing depending on valuation, product-market fit. [...]
[...]
Outside ecosystem investments in my opinion end up being much more complicated to evaluate and you need to view it more as VC.
Have you heard the term, During a gold rush, you don't want to mine gold... You want to sell the shovels?
Today, I will present you a great project with huge Discord utilities and tools platforms that is focused on the B2B side called @metahelixio 🧵
2/ Pitch
✅ Working Product
✅ Networking effects are starting to kick in
✅ Great value proposition to Product users
✅ Huge holders benefits
✅ Game changer products coming
✅ Team communicates well
✅ Ability to implement B2C and recurring revenue later
3/ Goals
MetaHelix goal is to become the backbone of communities, the core ethos is to make a platform extremely easy to get started with, and make changes to, without the need to make tickets or personally contact a range of tools or developers, without long onboarding periods
Let me tell you about one project minting on 12th called Mercanti which grants holders an access key for the broader @TradeWithMarco with mission of building the Defi infrastructure for NFTs and help onboard 1 billion users into #Solana
2/ Marco Polo
Similar to when Marco Polo revolutionized the monetary system by introducing "paper" as a medium for money in 1295 in the west, this project aims to build DeFi infrastructure for NFTs on Solana with accountability and transparency.
3/ MarcoPolo has 3 major segments that are interconnected
1/ My definition of a GREAT "Deep Dive" in a Thread:
My biggest lesson from years of investing in stocks was realizing what it actually means to understand a business to avoid cognitive bias.
Now starting on NFTs, I try to define my framework by applying similar concepts. #NFT
2/ A great "deep-dive" needs to give insights:
ᐅ The roadmap includes value-creation long term?
ᐅ Operators have capabilities to deliver?
ᐅ The community has a "builders" mentality?
and mostly,
ᐅ The community/customers interest will remain stable/increase in the long term?
3/ Starting mistakes
I was wasting time trying to surf every wave only using "hype" as a research tool, this has a lot of issues:
ᐅ Only gives you short term conviction
ᐅ Can be very easily faked (invites, levels schemes)
ᐅ Leave you bag holding things you don't believe in
@SBF_FTX This is the reality buying NFTs for 500$ to play a game that arent immersive compared to traditional games that costs you 50$ are are super immersive makes no sense.
A lot has to be improved with exception of a few projects like @MiniNations
