A word of WARNING - no shortcuts. This thread is a formula with actionable steps:
(Retweet to help others if you find it useful.) 👇
1) Learn, learn, learn
I’ll assume you know nothing about copywriting to start with.
The first step is going over to Google and YouTube, typing “eCommerce copywriting”, and finding the best and most helpful articles and videos.
Then, take your time to sit down, read the articles, watch the videos, and take notes of the important parts.
Read through all your notes and bookmarks, and practice using them in real-life examples.
2) Practice makes perfect
In copywriting, you’ll always get better and better in time. However, it takes practice, even if it’s just 30 minutes a day.
Open several Amazon or AliExpress products and read their descriptions. Take a mental note.
Then, open 2 or 3 products again but this time without reading what’s written.
Now, open your Google doc, Word, or take a pen and paper if you prefer, and start implementing what you’ve learned so far - try to write a product description by yourself.
Once you’re done, compare your writing to the actual one of the products, and see what you’ve missed or what you could’ve done better.
Don’t stop at one description, keep practicing a bit every day. Then, go one step further and try copywriting an entire landing page.
Test your limits. Learn from actual examples.
3) Know your audience
Before you attempt to do any kind of writing, including eCommerce landing pages or product descriptions, learn who your audience is.
Create one or multiple ideal customer (buyer personas) profiles.
And don’t be afraid to dig deep and go into detail. Create an entire resume/dating profile of the ideal buyer.
If you sell to more than one audience, make a buyer persona for each group.
By creating these fake profiles, you’ll gain a much better understanding of who your buyers are, their likes and dislikes. You’ll learn what they value, what they stand for, and what’s the best way to market your product.
4) Know your product
Learning your product inside-out and knowing all its benefits is crucial for writing a good copy.
But, don’t just count the features. Formulate those product features as benefits or solutions.
DON’T SAY: “our posture corrector has the highest satisfaction score on the market”
SAY: “resolve your back pain in one night’s sleep”
See the difference? You’re selling the solution, not the feature.
The next thing you should do is find your product’s angles and market positioning.
For example, the back posture corrector from above is typically marketed to 40+ people. Why not make it cuter and target teenagers?
Or, take paint-by-numbers coloring books.
They used to be for children until someone found a different angle and advertised them to adults - as a way to relax and unwind.
It’s all about the angle and the positioning. You can sell any product if you find its angles.
5) Language matters
The language and tone of voice you use for your copywriting will always depend on your branding and the type of products you sell. However, here are some general rules that apply to eCommerce writing:
→ Shorter sentences (active voice, easy to follow)
→ Simpler words (no fancy, overcomplicated terms)
→ No filler words (get to the point, no fluff)
→ Write as you speak (sound friendly and personal)
Complex and rich writing that’s full of adjectives and poetic is appreciated in academia.
Simple, short, and concise writing is what wins in eCommerce.
6) Types of writing
If you’re a one-man show with an eCommerce store, you’ll have to master more than just the product descriptions.
Here are all the types or formats of writing to work on:
✔ Headlines (meta titles)
✔ Product descriptions
✔ Meta descriptions
✔ Home page
✔ Category page
✔ Product (landing) page
✔ FAQ page
✔ Policies (there are free generators for this one)
✔ Ad copy
✔ Blog articles
A blog article is typically longer and targets long-tail keywords. A product page is shorter, targets a short keyword + your brand/product name, and needs no filler words. Learn the difference!
Copywriting is an essential skill for all dropshippers and eCommerce store owners.

#1 - Artificial hashtag stuffing
Hashtags are useful to gain organic exposure when placed strategically throughout your post, but avoid overstuffing your entire post with hashtags that all mean the same thing.
Several hashtags per post (and not necessarily every post) are more than enough.
Sometimes the simplest things make a huge difference.
Increase your conversions by following these simple *CHECKOUT PAGE TWEAKS* 🧵
#1 - Go to Shopify Themes → Edit code
Go to your Shopify themes and click on “edit code”. Then, choose “Checkout & System”.
#2 - Change the “Pay Now” button
Scroll down to the “Checkout general” section and find the “Pay Now” button label. Now, change the text from “Pay Now” to something like “Complete Order” or “Finish Ordering”.
This sounds much more natural to people, similar to what Amazon uses.
