Immutable characteristics exist with or without the approval or agreement of any on looker. Deny me the recognition of my sex and my disability is next. It cannot be ‘offensive’ to recognise the existence of an immutable physical characteristic.
If your identity is dependent upon making others conform to your own subjective view of what your identity is, then you have big, big problems which cannot be solved by hiding behind the word ‘offensive’.
