Darkhan was brought to the city hospital #7 in Kalkaman microdistrict. He was in critical condition, so he underwent emergency surgery. After the surgery the doctors told him that he had been shot in the stomach.

On 8 January when Darkhan was lying in bed under drips with catheters, a special rapid response unit burst into the ward. "Make a move, and we will shoot you down without warning," they said to him straight away.

They were all brought to the pre-trial detention facility SI-18. Darkhan was subjected to torture and beatings just like already known victims of the SI-18 namely: Akylzhan #KIYSIMBAYEV, Sayat #ADILBEKULY and Zhasulan #AMANGELDIYEV.

As soon as he was released from the SI-18, he went back to the city hospital #7. However, the doctors refused to treat him saying that the treatment was fee-based, and Darkhan didn't have the money.
