So I recently talked to a reporter about my life on the ground in #China during the city's latest COVID outbreak, but in the end, no one from the mainland was quoted for the article, just experts from #HongKong (blame the editors).

I spent some time compiling my thoughts so I'd like to share them here so they can at least be of some use to the public. Most of it has been covered in previous posts and is a few days out of date, but feel free to read and ask questions if you're interested.

My response:

In the end, I never particularly care if a quote I give makes it into a story, everyone is busy and article goals can change quickly.
But c'mon people, if you're going to write about Shenzhen, as well as other Chinese cities, maybe try to quote people on the ground.

There are so many people living and working throughout China, foreigners, and locals, who have been sharing their honest on-the-ground experiences of the pandemic in China. I'd think they could offer more insights than those in another region.
