The Lady in the image has a Limca record in her name for donating blood 139 times in her lifetime.
Her story is a text book example of a woman who made it big in the male dominated society, alas, she never made into the good books of Red Bindi Brigade.

Thanjavur Santhanakrishna Kanaka was a pioneer in neurosurgery, as one of the first neurosurgeons in the world and the first female neurosurgeon in Asia.
She was the first neurosurgeon in India to perform chronic electrode implants in the brain & first to perform deep brain
stimulation as early as in 1975.
Dr. Kanaka was born on this day in 1932 at Madras. She decided to dedicate her life to helping patients after her brother died of an unknown illness at the age of 9.
This tragedy influenced Kanaka's decision to remain unmarried and instead
pursue a career in medicine to dedicate her life to helping patients.
But it was not an easy path, Dr Kanaka faced the discrimination in the male dominated field.
Deeply Spiritual, Dr Kanaka completed her MBBS in December 1954, Master of Surgery (MS) in 1963.
In 1968, she
obtained her Master of Surgery (MCh) in Neurosurgery and later completed a PhD in the Evaluation of Stereotatic surgery in Cerebral Palsy in 1972.
Throughout her entire career, she was surrounded by mostly men and not treated as an equal. Persistence allowed her to earn her
M.S. degree and remain in medicine.
“Every time I took the final exam, the external examiner from Bombay failed me. It was only in the sixth attempt that I qualified,”.
said the legendary DrTSKanaka in an interview.

The general surgery dept chief made it harder for her to
progress through the hospital’s hierarchy & develop an understanding of the surgeries. He ensured that she was not put on emergency visits instead gave to her male colleagues.
Even through these struggles, she maintained her drive to help the less-fortunate. While working at
Govt General Hospital and teaching at several others, she also volunteered with people who could not afford healthcare.
She was associated with Tirumala Devasthanams for 30yrs
Kanaka served in the Indian Army as a commissioned officer during the 1962-1963 in China War.
She was predominantly associated for most of her career with the Government General Hospital. Kanaka also taught at the Madras Medical College, Epidemiological Research Centre, Adyar Cancer Institute, Hindu Mission Hospital and other hospitals.
Kanaka retired as a surgeon in
1990 & continued to offer consultancy services, refused to descend into private practice.
She used her own funds to establish a hospital, named after her parents as the
Sri Santhanakrishna Padmavathi Health Care and Research Foundation, which offers free healthcare to the needy.
Dr T S Kanaka, passed away after a brief illness on 14 November 2018 at the age of 86.
Dr. T S Kanaka inspires millions to try the hardest you possibly can, even when you are at a disadvantage.
Even though people did not want her to succeed, she persisted. She rose above the challenges on her own.

In May 1921, HE was arrested on charges of “sedition” for his “objectionable” speeches in Maharashtra. The hearing of the case began on June 14, 1921. After a few hearings, he decided to plead his own case and read
out a written statement on 5/8/1921
After hearing it, Justice Smelly said: “His defense is even more seditious than his original speech!” In his judgment, the judge ordered HIM to give an undertaking in writing that he would not deliver seditious speeches for 1 yr, and furnish
a bail bond of Rs3,000.
HIS response was terse: “My conscience tells me that I am completely innocent. A policy of repression would only add fuel to the fire already raging because of the government’s vicious policies. I am convinced that the day is not far off for the foreign

But instead, he began receiving worrying reports of Russian involvement there, and of a growing friendship between them.

As it happened, military advisors had told Curzon that a Russian

He was called as “Lion of Karnataka” and also addressed as “KHADI BHAGEERATHA”.
Let us know more about very own forgotten freedom fighter of Karnataka, Gangadharrao Balakrishna Deshpande, who incidentally, was the First President of KPCC (1920) and KPCC President twice. Image
Born on 31 March 1871 in Hudli, Belagavi, Gangadharrao Balkrishna Deshpande was initially more inclined towards social reforms. However, ever since he met Lokmanya Tilak, his life took a different turn, and till the latter’s demise in July 1920.
Freedom fighters Govindrao Yalgi
and Gangadhar Rao Deshpande first planned to host Ganesha festival as a public event in 1905 for the cause of uniting the people of all faiths to fight against the British. The first Sarvajanik Ganesha idol was installed at Govindrao ’s residence. On invitation by Deshpande,

#GeneralThimayya is not born in every generation. The likes of him there will seldom be a soldier. The General is a man's man, the Army his soul and his soul the Army.
It’s a rich tribute, nevertheless, I SILENTLY WEPT, while preparing this thread/post.. No veteran must suffer
this humiliation, but Nehru was a …

Remembering #KodenderaSubbaiahThimmayya the Chief of Army Staff bt 1957-61 & the only Bharatiya to command an Infantry Brigade during WW2 & regarded as the most distinguished Combat Officer the Bharatiya Army produced.
Gen K S Thimmayya was
born on this day on 1906 at Madikeri and came from a family of veterans.
Like the mighty Himalaya’s, the blunders of Nehru was Himalayan too, in 1959, Gen Thimmayya Resigned after a fight with the then defence minister & Nehru's close aide Krishna Menon, Nehru didn't approve

ON THIS DAY, MKGANDHI WAS BEATEN BLACK & BLUE BY CONGRESS WORKERS AT LAHORE.
This happened after 2 days of hanging of our 3 Freedom Fighters.
As Gandhi was very close to British, everybody opined that
“Gandhi alone could have intervened effectively to save Bhagat Singh's life.
He did not, till the very last”.
Bhagath Singh was killed twice, First by Gandhi & Later by Nehruvian Communists.
I will start with a pact which happened between MKGandhi & Viceroy Irwin.
(Congressmen & Communists, before jumping over me, let me tell you, all this is available
at mkgandhi.org)
Executions of 23RD MARCH 1931 marked the collapse of the hopes of millions of Indians who had believed that #MahatmaGandhi would be able to save the lives of the three young heroes - Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru.
If Gandhi had succeeded in
