Happy #TDOV! This is going to be a thread of ways you can materially support trans people, in times where we desperately need it. This thread is US based. Cis people, please RT this and try to do as many things on this list as you are able. It can save lives. 🧵
Firstly, you can go to transformationsproject.org to learn about hateful legislation in your state and contact your representatives to push back against pending anti-trans legislation. You can also follow @StepUp4Trans for updates.
Secondly, one of the most impactful things you can do to support trans lives is donate money and assistance to trans people. Trans folks, feel free to attach your need posts here. Cis folks, anything you can spare can make a difference.
Thirdly, support local trans organizations. I'll be tagging and listing some in the replies to this tweet, feel free to add your own. Supporting grassroots efforts to improve trans lives is invaluable work.
Fourthly, you can support the Trans Family Network (@TransFamNet), an organization which pairs those willing to donate resources with trans youth suffering under legislative attacks. Please go to transfam.net to learn more.
Fifthly, protest and show up for us. The anti-trans legislative crisis is dramatically limiting the rights of trans people in the US. You can find and organize protests using @tearituporg, or at tearitup.org. the time to act is now, and your silence is compliance.
Sixthly, speak up for us wherever you have a voice. Whether it be in your writing, in your classroom, or at your dinner table, defend trans people. We desperately need it, as we are being used as pawns in a "culture war" where we are being sacrificed.
