1/8 There are new facts and testimonies about the torture and beatings during the bloody events of January 2022.
They were called "TERRORISTS" during the beatings.
The story of 35-year-old father of two from Almaty,Kairat #KOZHAKHMETOV. #Kazakhstan @hermanntertsch@juozas_olekas
2/8 On January 5,2022, Kairat left his home to go to a pharmacy to buy medicine for his child.
On the way to the pharmacy, he was severely wounded in the thigh and lost consciousness.
The 12 city hospital diagnosed a penetrating wound to the right femur, @OezlemADemirel@DRL_AS
3/8 an open compound fracture of the right tibia. Kairat was treated,a cast was applied and an operation was planned.
On the evening of the 8th of January,an armed special rapid response unit (SOBR) burst into the hospital and began severely beating wounded patients. @StateDept
4/8 While beating Kairat, they broke the cast on his leg.
SOBR officers then took out all of the injured, about 20 of them, and pushed them almost half-naked into an 8-passenger prisoner transport vehicle.
All the wounded were taken to SI-18 in Almaty, @CoE_HRightsRLaw@rampi
5/8 where they were brutally tortured and beaten, including Kairat.
After hours of beatings , practically without water and food, they had to sleep on the cold floor in a cold cell 😱😰.
And this bullying went on for many days.
On January 18, Kairat was admitted to Hospital 4,
6/8 where he underwent surgery on his right leg on January 24.
After the surgery, Kairat was handcuffed to the bed and guarded like a criminal by a police officer.
On 27 January, he was placed under house arrest. #Zhanaozen2022 @LeopoldoLopezG@Assita_Kanko@EamonGilmore@Ilhan
7/8 While President Tokayev acknowledged the torture of detainees in his address and noted the "unacceptability" of these methods, in many cases

2/5 Tokayev's statement about recognition of the facts of tortures remained just another empty statement.
It is the same Kazakhstan with political repression, the same impunity for torture, and lack of objectivity and transparency in investigation. @j_wisniewska@RaffaeleFitto
3/5 It is confirmed by the case of civil activist K.#Amrenov who reports that on March 20,2022 the investigator for the fight against corruption in Pavlodar region #Taukel D.S.closed the criminal case against police officers under Article 146(torture). @Hetman_K@weimers
