Last week we had #MeelKePatthar Quiz-01 Elimination Round.. As we gear up for finals here is a long #thread on Results & Answers.

There were 77 registered entries for the prelim round of quiz of which 68 people participated

@Adipant & @Vibhendu jointly emerged as TOP scorers

The quiz questions are available in the link but anyway sharing d answers (random order) & will also try to bring some value in the answers in d thread, with interesting answers received

@niketan_r @indranath @paddythemuse @ShiivZ Q09 was the toughest question of the lot [Who mentored Shankar Jaikishan during making of their debut Barsaat] & only two @ChhatrasalSingh & @anandsivasankar gave the correct Answer: Husnlal-Bhagatram - Shankar had assisted them in early yrs, so they came for review/suggestions

The most incorrect answer to Q09 had Ram Ganguly as the answer followed by AnilBiswas & Naushad.
#Barsaat surely had Ganguly as original MD, but RajKapoor threw him out of the film for integrity/trust issues. Destity made way for his assts SJ as debutant MD #MeelKePetthar #Quiz

A05. MD: AR Rahman

- The beautiful Holi song is composed by A.R. Rehman for one of his finest yet under discussed soundtracks post 2000, Water (2005). A glimpse of Seema Biswas was key for many to identify the muted song. 40% of participants got it right #MeelKePetthar #Quiz

Some of the interesting incorrect answers for Q05 (AR Rahman) were Mithoon, Khayyam, Naushad, Rajesh Roshan & Vanraj Bhatia

Some tried to make it interesting with "Correct Answer" like Dileep Kumar 😀😀 - Also gave partial points for Mychael Danna/Water #MeelKePetthar #Quiz

A04. Naukri (1978) based on story of Salil Chowdhury with Music by RD Burman. Seems like another tough question as 25% got it right

Shagird, Kinaara, Achanak, Amar Ppem were some interesting incorrect answers #Pancham #Salilda

The original Q04 was slightly different Two different films with same name of Salil da in different capacity..

Salil da did Bimal Roy's Naukri way back in early 50s & had a terrific score, but didn't compose for 70s Naukri
(prob as shifted to Kolkata)

A07. Gujarati Poet Raghunath Brahmbhatt was credited as main writer for Mughal-E-Azam's "Mohe Panghat Pe Nandlal" after a long fight with producers by his grandson

The original bandish is composed by Pt. BindadinMaharah of Wajid AliShah court (& Grand uncle of Pt. Birju Maharaj)

Poet Raghunath wrote the version that was used in the film for a Gujarati play titled Chhatra Vijay way back in 1917 & was used in Mughal-E-Azam

an the Bandish has been recorded by many artists in 30s & 40s

Kidar Sharma's Chitralekha (1941) is a feat for Jhande Khan saab as he composed all the songs in the same raag Bhairavi.

A02. Seven - As per available records & documentation [Hindi film Geet Kosh by Harmandir Singh Hamraz], the first ever Hindustani talkie film Aalam Aara (1931) had seven songs recorded by Firoz Shah Mistry, the lyricist information is still not available as the film is lost.

A07. Aalam Aara is lost but in 1981-82, its heroine Zubeida recounted from her memory the experience of singing in the film for a show titled "Mortal Men Immortal Memories" on 50 yrs of Talkies, sponsored by Tata Oil Mill directed by Siddarth Kak & presented by @AzmiShabana

A14. Seema (1971) - The only released film of #ShankarJaikishan-Gulzar as MD/Lyricist team. They were together in a few more films but not as music team

Seems #Gulzar sb was supposedly directing Seema in the beginning & had written 2 songs for the film

While SJ-Gulzar collaboration in #Seema is known for classic Jab bhi ye dil udaas hota hai, my fav is this Lori

A11. Moirarji Desai, the then Home Minister of Govt of Bombay banned Dilip Kumar & Noorjehan starred Jugnu

#BaburaoPatel in #FilmIndia review called it "Dirty, Disgusting & Vulgar" and requested Home Minister Moraraji to review who ordered a ban after watching the film.

Producers of the film even went on to address Morarji's as 'Moralji' as a protest for his moral code of conduct he set for the film makers. This also shows how powerful the man BabuRao Patel was.

Singer Mohd Rafi played role of Dilip Kumar in one of his few screen appearances

A08. Laara Lappa one of the smashing hits of its times was composed by Music Director Vinod aka Eric Roberts for the film Ek Thi Ladki.

Call it ignorance as Most people identified MD as OP Nayyar. Much before Nayyar, Vinod has given some fascinating songs with Punjabi flavor

Vinod was highly talented but departed quite early at just 37. A chapter in #MeelkePatthar highlights his significance with song reccos.

His score of Chaman (1948) has Lata singing some beautiful Punjabi songs before she became a knwon voice.
