The quiz questions are available in the link but anyway sharing d answers (random order) & will also try to bring some value in the answers in d thread, with interesting answers received
@niketan_r@indranath@paddythemuse@ShiivZ Q09 was the toughest question of the lot [Who mentored Shankar Jaikishan during making of their debut Barsaat] & only two @ChhatrasalSingh & @anandsivasankar gave the correct Answer: Husnlal-Bhagatram - Shankar had assisted them in early yrs, so they came for review/suggestions
The most incorrect answer to Q09 had Ram Ganguly as the answer followed by AnilBiswas & Naushad. #Barsaat surely had Ganguly as original MD, but RajKapoor threw him out of the film for integrity/trust issues. Destity made way for his assts SJ as debutant MD #MeelKePetthar#Quiz
A05. MD: AR Rahman
- The beautiful Holi song is composed by A.R. Rehman for one of his finest yet under discussed soundtracks post 2000, Water (2005). A glimpse of Seema Biswas was key for many to identify the muted song. 40% of participants got it right #MeelKePetthar#Quiz
Some of the interesting incorrect answers for Q05 (AR Rahman) were Mithoon, Khayyam, Naushad, Rajesh Roshan & Vanraj Bhatia
Some tried to make it interesting with "Correct Answer" like Dileep Kumar 😀😀 - Also gave partial points for Mychael Danna/Water #MeelKePetthar#Quiz
A04. Naukri (1978) based on story of Salil Chowdhury with Music by RD Burman. Seems like another tough question as 25% got it right
Shagird, Kinaara, Achanak, Amar Ppem were some interesting incorrect answers #Pancham#Salilda
The original Q04 was slightly different Two different films with same name of Salil da in different capacity..
Salil da did Bimal Roy's Naukri way back in early 50s & had a terrific score, but didn't compose for 70s Naukri
(prob as shifted to Kolkata)
A07. Gujarati Poet Raghunath Brahmbhatt was credited as main writer for Mughal-E-Azam's "Mohe Panghat Pe Nandlal" after a long fight with producers by his grandson
The original bandish is composed by Pt. BindadinMaharah of Wajid AliShah court (& Grand uncle of Pt. Birju Maharaj)
Poet Raghunath wrote the version that was used in the film for a Gujarati play titled Chhatra Vijay way back in 1917 & was used in Mughal-E-Azam
an the Bandish has been recorded by many artists in 30s & 40s
A06. Mandolin - Laxmikant was a Child Prodigy and pplayed Mandolin in a Lata Mangeshkar concert at the age of just 10.
Almost 35% of all, got it wrong as Violin prob as they read the question for Pyarelal ji who was a Violin expert.
Laxmikant for SDB :
A12. Baiju Bawra.. Picked a lesser discussed song from one of the finest gems of Hindi Film Music by Naushad
#MeelkaPatthar takes an analytical look on how Baiju Bawwra became the peak of Naushad's creativity which may go against popular opinions. He continued to grow in stature with Big Films even after but for the Creative part Baiju Bawra was the best
A13. Saawan ke nazaare hain - Khajaanchi - Ghulam Haider
The Cycle song was one of the first big hits from Punjab School by Master Ghulam Haider, a trend setter for the 40s & made Ramola a big star overnight.
Check :
A01. Ustad Jhande Khan - Guru of Khemchand Prakash & Naushad who assisted him in earlier years
Kidar Sharma's Chitralekha (1941) is a feat for Jhande Khan saab as he composed all the songs in the same raag Bhairavi.
A02. Seven - As per available records & documentation [Hindi film Geet Kosh by Harmandir Singh Hamraz], the first ever Hindustani talkie film Aalam Aara (1931) had seven songs recorded by Firoz Shah Mistry, the lyricist information is still not available as the film is lost.
A07. Aalam Aara is lost but in 1981-82, its heroine Zubeida recounted from her memory the experience of singing in the film for a show titled "Mortal Men Immortal Memories" on 50 yrs of Talkies, sponsored by Tata Oil Mill directed by Siddarth Kak & presented by @AzmiShabana

Some more answers from #MeelkePatthar quiz that were pending.. The answer #thread continues
A03 - Which MD has collaborated most with #sahir for released films?
Technically this has two correct answers for the unintended ambiguity in question framing
Ravi - 19 Films (130Songs)
SD Burman 139 Songs (18 Films)
A15. Poet Neeraj's rare screen appearance for the film Pehchaan(1970) in this song Paise ki pehchaan music by SJ. No authentic account of what made Neeraj to appear but he penned two popular songs including this & bas yahi apradh main har baar. #MeelkePatthar#Quiz@Guzzlerbear
A14. Seema (1971) - The only released film of #ShankarJaikishan-Gulzar as MD/Lyricist team. They were together in a few more films but not as music team
Seems #Gulzar sb was supposedly directing Seema in the beginning & had written 2 songs for the film
While SJ-Gulzar collaboration in #Seema is known for classic Jab bhi ye dil udaas hota hai, my fav is this Lori
ओस की बूंदों में जो बरसा करती थी
वो निंदिया अब दो नैनो से रूठ गयी
A11. Moirarji Desai, the then Home Minister of Govt of Bombay banned Dilip Kumar & Noorjehan starred Jugnu
#BaburaoPatel in #FilmIndia review called it "Dirty, Disgusting & Vulgar" and requested Home Minister Moraraji to review who ordered a ban after watching the film.
Producers of the film even went on to address Morarji's as 'Moralji' as a protest for his moral code of conduct he set for the film makers. This also shows how powerful the man BabuRao Patel was.
Singer Mohd Rafi played role of Dilip Kumar in one of his few screen appearances
A08. Laara Lappa one of the smashing hits of its times was composed by Music Director Vinod aka Eric Roberts for the film Ek Thi Ladki.
Call it ignorance as Most people identified MD as OP Nayyar. Much before Nayyar, Vinod has given some fascinating songs with Punjabi flavor
Vinod was highly talented but departed quite early at just 37. A chapter in #MeelkePatthar highlights his significance with song reccos.
His score of Chaman (1948) has Lata singing some beautiful Punjabi songs before she became a knwon voice.

Last week while talking at an international conference on Insolvency organised by ILA, had mentioned this in the context that some real life stories are even more interesting than cinema.
This strange one surely is a Film in Waiting
#Delhi hearts & "hides" some very interesting chapters of our History.
The long dense SouthRidge Jungle in heart of Delhi spans from Delhi Cantt to Jhandewalan.
Every day almost a few lacs people travel on the ring road alongside the #MonkeyForest [Shot from ITC Maurya Rooftop]
Next morning after my session, I got up early on Sunday at the Sunrise, as the Delhi jungle was just in front of me. I really wanted to explore a poignant tale of the History, with a twist of a Dark Comedy. After crossing the Simon Boliver statue, I could see a narrow entry point
My father's departure in Dec 2020 for Covid, took a lot away from within me. I developed a certain kind of detachment from watching Cinema. It stopped exciting me ever since & Have rarely seen Cinema & OTT stuff in last 2 yrs & even gave long break to our Podcast @ChaalHaal#MOMD
@ChaalHaal I did see 5-6 much awaited & recc'ed films like TheDisciple, MinnalMurali & Sherni & some segments from Anthology films of @ghaywan@Vasan_Bala, @AratiRaval & @ashutoshc06, still wasn't as excited abt new stuff as ever. But VasanB & @varungrover's new work is reviving interest
Finally am excited about a film after long as dear @Vasan_Bala's Monica O My Darling has arrived last night on @netflix. Tonight started watching & m surprised by a Kick-Ass opening sequence that it delivers. But stopped on the Titles when his name popped up, just for this thread
Sharing a few bits in this thread- गुस्ताखी माफ़ @profapm@MrinalPande1@irfaniyat@varungrover@asadkidwai
