I actually tried to verify w/ a public-records request LA County's claim that "only" 10-20% of the touchscreen voting systems (BMDs) failed in the 2020 primary. I couldn't do this w/ the documents they produced. Grr. But you can see the problems were massive in many places. 1/
I have 50 pages. Just on page 1, there are at least 7 polling places where more than half of the touchscreen voting machines were down. In one place, 12 out of 15 had to be swapped. In another, 7 out of 10 were down. In another, 9 out of 10 were down. In another, 15 out of 20. 2/
This is p. 2. Here, too, multiple polling places saw more than 1/2 of their touchscreen voting machines go down. In one place, 8/10 voting machines went down. In another 17/25 voting machines went down. In another, 30/45 voting machines went down. In another, 13/20 went down. 3/
#HandMarkedPaperBallots don’t go down. 4/
5/ BTW, they refer to these touchscreen voting machines (BMDs) as “paper ballot” systems bc they mark your selections on a piece of paper for you. But as you can see, they are quite vulnerable to electronic failure. Again, imo, pen & paper (#HandMarkedPaperBallots) are safer.
6/ There were other types of problems with the touchscreen voting machines too. It was a sh#t show.
7/ There were so many reports of problems w/ LA County’s voting system just on social media that I began compiling them into a thread. threadreaderapp.com/thread/1234877…
8/ LA county tried to claim that most of the problems were with the electronic poll books. That may be true (LA county uses e-poll books without paper backups, a whole other problem). But the documents show that the BMDs were very problematic too.
10/ There was mayhem all over the county. Because of this disaster, LA county conducted most of the general election by mail.
11/ Voters with disabilities shld absolutely have access to well functioning ballot marking devices if they choose to use them despite the risks. But using them for all voters (as in LA county) is simply too risky in my opinion. I do feel that LA county proved the point.
12/
13/ Smartmatic built this system for $300 million.

The implication is that Scott Koch (via Mike Flynn) tried to plant a sham “bamboo ballots on a plane” conspiracy theory w/ Burk to trick her into signing an affidavit supporting it. But she secretly recorded her convo w/ Koch & others (destroying their plausible deniability)…1/
… and they freaked out and had the 1AP steal her phone, which had included the Koch conversation & other secretly conversations w/ AZ election officials. At least that’s the theory. 2/
I think they actually wanted her to write the affidavit, not just sign it. When she wrote it up, she revealed that she had recorded her conversation with Koch (who presumably wld have denied speaking with her), and they freaked out. 3/

The state of Florida seems to have improperly delayed the release of public records (Beshears’ financial reports) relating to the federal sex trafficking investigation involving Matt Gaetz (& thus Joel Greenberg). Gaetz was @GovRonDeSantis’s transition team leader. #flapol 1/

Remember when Roger Stone’s close friends (Proud Boys leaders Joe Biggs & Enrique Tarrio) told the Proud Boys to dress like “Antifa” (anti fascists) on January 6, & then Stone tried to blame January 6 on “Antifa.”? 1/
