#SeditionHunters - it seems the Proud Boys are flipping. One of the "big four", ex-Marine Charles Donohoe (#YutYutPB), who led over 200 Proud Boys to the Capitol, is copping a plea - see article. Here's Donohoe and the Proud Boys shortly before the rush of the NW Scaffolds. 1/
Here's Donohoe entering the scaffolds, just behind Pezzola (#Spazzo) who soon after broke the first window to set off the Capitol invasion. The other Florida Proud Boys who helped break the police lines have peeled off to the side and are skipping the action - typical for PBs. 2/
Unlike the rest of the "Big 4" of the Proud Boys leadership, Donohoe never entered the Capitol building. He ranks with them, but he bailed out of the scaffolds fight, then stood around on the lawn and never re-entered. So why is he flipping now? 3/
Donohoe (#YutYutPB) has unique legal exposure among the PB leaders. He got impatient on the Plaza, threw a water bottle at officers - a violent felony. Found by @creek_twit in the newly-released LA Times footage - no other video shows this as clearly. Video changes everything. 4/
You can watch Donohoe's assault at link below: go-pro footage from LA Times' @kentnish. The video is amazing but it's not complete - what other game-changing moments might be happening in its gaps? 5/
The PB annotations here are by @ne0ndistraction and @TweedleRiot; the PBs were inventoried, hashtagged, and IDd by groups of dozens of volunteers. As of today, 47 of the 235 hashtagged PBs have been arrested. (bit.ly/CapitolPBTable). No wonder DOJ is hiring more prosecutors. 6/
Donohoe's statement of offense shows the DOJ's care and competence. Donohoe clearly admits to: advance planning and coordination, direction from above, intent to block vote certification, expecting violence, understanding it was illegal. Read thread. 7/
Donohoe's statement of offense confirms what we'd inferred from other sources: that the go-ahead decision for the attack was made late on the night of Dec. 18th, and practical planning started immediately afterwards. 8/
documentcloud.org/documents/2158…
The lead-up to Jan 6 was long, and someone had been envisioning the attack earlier - but the wheels turned quickly after Dec. 18 and whatever was decided then. 9/
The Proud Boys ascent from a drinking-and-fighting club to something darker, stranger has been charted by many reporters. Here's Jordan Green from summer 2020 on Donohoe (#YutYutPB) helping arrange a joint Proud Boys-QAnon event. 10/

#SeditionHunters and journalists - seems that all parties now agree: the Jan 6 Capitol attack was a coordinated assault, not a random riot. And the Proud Boys are the engines of the attack - but there will be other, more senior groups also uncovered. 1/
The volunteer community has been mapping and charting the physical assault for 15 months now. You can read, and watch for yourself. 2/
The easiest way to tour the insurrection's ordered sequences is to walk through a timeline with video links - each event here has a link to primary video, just click. We'll update next week with maps. 3/

#SeditionHunters - the film crew who shadowed Proud Boys chairmman Enrique Tarrio just testified for hours before the @January6thCmte - see thread. Why was Tarrio's arrest so slow? In part, because DOJ took 6+ months to crack his phone. Which is fully of incriminating stuff.. 1/
Tarrio's charging docs say he didn't wipe his phone, just assumed FBI couldn't get in. Surely related to that phone: just weeks before Tarrio's arrest, DC police announced they were suspending a longtime officer who'd been communicating with him. 2/
washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2022/…
Shane Lamond, the officer suspended for contact with Proud Boy leader Tarrio, is not just any beat cop - he is the head of MPD's Intelligence Unit. 3/

#SeditionHunters update: the the "VIP Timeline" now includes recently released White House call logs & new Willard video, which cover the crucial hour when Trump delayed his Ellipse speech, making the crowd at the Capitol too thin for early success. 1/
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d… Image
The crowd had been directed to go to the Capitol by 1 PM, when the Joint Session to certify the vote would begin - but Trump's hour-long delay meant most of his audience stayed at the Ellipse. When the Proud Boys hit the W. Plaza, their backing mob was only 100s, not 1000s. 2/ Image
What was Trump doing, when he should have been onstage? Calling people: the GA Senators who had just lost, a conference call with lawyer Eric Hershmann, his kids, Stephen Miller who also got a 26-minute call earlier. Then VP Pence. Even once at the Ellipse, he still dawdled...3/ ImageImage

#SeditionHunters - it's hours-old news by now, but just to remind everyone that Paul Manafort, the Trump/Ukraine fixer who just tried to flee to Dubai today (following last week's exodus of oligarchs there) ... organized the January 6th rally at the Ellipse. 1/
Manafort's connection to the Capitol attack, and his 2 decades of operations in Ukraine, are detailed in our "VIP timeline" of events leading up to Jan 6. Trump pardoned Manafort on Dec. 23; within a week his company stepped in to manage the rally. 2/
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d
Manafort tried to fly from Miami to Dubai today on a revoked passport, and was physically removed from the plane. The invasion of Ukraine has clarified how the Jan 6 attack of the US Capitol had long roots and foreign connections. 3/

#SeditionHunters - the second J6 trial has just ended, first for a #SeditionVIP: Couy Griffin, leader of Cowboys for Trump, guilty on one count. Only a misdemeanor but sets an important precedent: VIPs who entered Capitol Grounds face some consequences. 1/
politico.com/news/2022/03/2…
Griffin climbed over downed barricades up the W. lawn, and to the Lower W. Terrace, filmed himself ca. 3:30 PM with the crowd behind. Judge McFadden agreed that this is "entering the grounds of a building that were restricted due to the presence of a Secret Service protectee." 2/
These first 2 trials set important precedents for J6 perps who stayed outside the Capitol building. Guy Reffitt: violent perps can be guilty of obstruction. Couy Griffin: Pence was in the Capitol, so self-promoting celebrities touring the grounds committed a serious offense. 3/

#SeditionHunters - FINALLY, Philadelphia prosecutors have moved to rescind bail for Vets for Trump leader Joshua Macias, who urged the crowd on at the Capitol. We owe thanks to @KrisGoldsmith85's reporting for this. But, still one huge omission... 1/
thedailybeast.com/joshua-macias-…
The Daily Beast article by @stevanzetti says about Macias and his sidekick Antonio Lamotta, "There is no evidence either of them entered the Capitol building." But there IS evidence. For 7 months there has been evidence. What can we do to convince you? 2/
For those who haven't heard it, here is Macias' "The Insurrection Act is Now" speech outside the Capitol. Lamotta is just at his side. 3/
