Hahahahaha! This week, guest co-host is MR. BISCUIT!
1/
So, the lovely folks at @MongoosePub said they would like to ‘send a few things’ and after finding out they published new versions of a couple of my all-time favorite RPGS, I got all happy and excited.
First, is this gorgeous pirate game, SEA OF THIEVES!
6/
It’s a beautiful boxed set, to start with, with a book of LORE, a book of PIRATES, and a book of VOYAGES. Custom dice, gear cards, die cut markers and a huge map.
This is a GORGEOUS set, we are going to play this as soon as we can. Art inside is lovely!
7/
It’s weird, but I didn’t realize SEA OF THIEVES rpg was based on the wildly successful video game of the same name.
This huge hardcover supplement adds a ton of new items and expansions AND two full adventures.
Man, gotta play this, the box stuff is so appealing! PIRATES!
8/
Couple reminders since it’s been a while since a #TabletopGails thread. PLEASE feel free to jump in with questions or comments. Would LOVE to hear from people who played these, and the publishers and developers often stop by to answer questions!
9/
Okay, WOOSH, they sent a TON of TRAVELLER stuff. It’s all extremely high quality and be sure to bring a wheelbarrow because the books and boxed sets are PACKED.
TRAVELLER is one of the greatest SF rpgs ever created, famous for its character creation system.
10/
This was one of my FAVORITE rpgs when it first came out, I loved the way it felt like being part of a terrific science fiction story, not just a set of rules.
Spaceships, exploration, aliens, I cannot recommend this RPG highly enough. It’s extraordinary. Great art, too!
11/
There is just too much stuff to spotlight it all after a cursory look.
But man, this game has WORLDS of stuff. If you love rpgs, and you love SF, this is just one of the best games ever made.
Look at this stuff!
12/
This box set of three hardcover books weighs 3484 pounds just by itself.
I used to LOVE reading the Traveller rule and resource books, even when I couldn’t play it. These books feel like a dream for players who want deep lore.
13/
And again, each book is full of ideas, schematics, and beautiful art.
An SF gamer’s dream.
I haven’t played this edition yet, but I am hearing it’s an improved version. WOW!
14/
Another reminder about these threads. I am not paid for talking about this stuff, the only thing I receive is the games themselves. If something looks great, I talk about it. :)
I truly believe gaming is a terrific mental and emotional aid during all this other stuff!
15/
Okay, and finally, OH MY GOD, I loved this game when I first played it years ago. If you haven’t played it, I CANNOT RECOMMEND IT HIGHLY ENOUGH.
It’s something like a funny version of 1984, but still manages to feel suspenseful. It’s amazing.
PARANOIA!
16/
It is nearly impossible to explain this game, but you are a TROUBLESHOOTER in a dystopian, often non-sensical society. Every misstep can be fatal. There are mutants, terrorists and traitors, and it’s all somehow hilarious.
I never laughed so hard playing an RPG!
17/
The box set is small-ish in size but absolutely packed with stuff; Gamemaster’s Handbook, Player’s Handbook, Missions book, dice, two card decks, and really ingenious character sheets.
Plus five full adventures!
18/
If you have friends who like a video game like, say, PORTAL, they will love this.
If you have a player who is not really into dwarves and elves and such, this game is a real team builder, except everyone betrays everyone.
DISHONESTY IS TRUTH!
19/
I know I’ve been giving these games all high marks, but I don’t know what to tell you, they really look spectacular. Two (Traveller and Paranoia) are two of the most beloved games of my early RPG experience, and SEA OF THIEVES just looks amazing.
MR. BISCUIT: ARF!
20/
Thank you again to @MongoosePub, can’t WAIT to play these.
Might start with Sea of Thieves, surprisingly.
Just beautiful games.
WOW!
Again, I don’t get paid to talk games. I am solely doing it because rediscovering board games and RPGS made the lockdown and all that stress a LOT easier to deal with, and I think it could do that for a lot of others, as well.
Don’t punch strangers, PLAY GAMES!
22/
If you have questions or comments, please feel free to add them to the thread. I love to read them, and usually someone involved with the game comes by and answers them.
Thanks for reading, everyone. Choose a game from this or other #TabletopGail threads and PLAY!
LOVE YA!
End/
PS. ARF!

Oh, man, the lovely @greenleafgeek said she would love to send me a set of custom dice, and I LOVE DICE so I said yes, and she said it would be a ‘tea set’ because as you know I love tea and am an expert in all things tea-related.
I JUST GOT THEM YESTERDAY.
1)
BOOM.
LOOK AT THESE GORGEOUS PRECIOUS TEA MATH CLACKERS
The quality is ridiculous, they just FEEL like precious gems.
And they have gorgeous tea items inside, plus liquid gold tea!
We were just on a flight from Denver to Oregon, and we witnessed a transformation.
It was either disturbing or awesome.
1/
Our flight attendant was a lovely young lady, with her hair up so it looked kind of short. She was lovely and sweet and the perfect representative of her airline.
Or so we all THOUGHT.
2/
So she is the only member of the crew in the cabin, it’s a small plane. And perhaps consequently, she really, really wanted to make the rules clear. She must have said eight times that we needed to put our phones in airplane mode.
We are in a restaurant and the family next to us is talking about a family recipe for Beef Stroganoff and ever one of them, including the children, pronounce it, completely innocently, as ‘Beef Strokin’ Off.’
1/
The first time, it was funny and adorable. Now it hysterical.
The dad said there was NOTHING like his mom’s strokin’ off and that almost killed me.
2/
Help me help help they won’t stop going on about their strokin’ off.
