Great analysis from Dr Mercola and Dr @RobertLustigMD discussing the book 'Metabolical' on the #RootCauses of the obesity and chronic disease epidemic.
I agree w Dr Mercola that 'mainstream' low carb narrative often ignores the toxic effects of oxidized omega-6s seed oils + breakdown products (OXLAMs) as key in initiating and perpetuating metabolic dysfunction.
It's easy but overtly simplistic to blame carbohydrates for metabolic dysfunction (ie carbohydrate insulin model) while ignoring the conditions that set the body up for a metabolically dysfunctional state in the first place...
Seed oils (ie excess consumption of omega-6s) are a major player here, and @drcateshanahan in her latest lecture describes how dysfunctional adipocytes prevent the body from efficiently accessing stored energy, which drives carb/sugar cravings
Another key driver of disordered glucose metabolism (that neither Dr mentioned) is light environment...specifically circadian disruption caused by blue light and mitochondrial dysfunction of eating fruit/carbs at seasonally inappropriate times without commensurate sun exposure.
Nonetheless they hone in on the key food drivers of the explosion in metabolic dysfunction - eating processed frankefoods (seed oils, carbs, high fructose corn syrup, sugar) that are unrecognizable from the whole foods of our ancestral past.
@RobertLustigMD correctly identifies many of the societal #RootCauses of the problem
- Earl Butz + post-1971 monocropping industrialization transformation
- government subsidies artificially supporting processed food profitability
- immoral hazard of Big Pharma
But his solutions miss the crux of the issue.
Nothing meaningful is going to change by
- lobbying government to remove food subsidies
- litigating corporations
- somehow convincing them to sell real food other than processed food
Why? 1. Because Regulatory Capture by corporations is too deeply entrenched 2. the metastasis of the Industrial Food Complex is a function of the (peverted) monetary incentives
Anyone who has read Fiat Food by @saifedean understands that the proliferation of high fructose corn syrup and other junk foods was an indirect consequence of creation of a free-floating fiat currency untethered to a sound money gold standard
So we can't solve a problem with the same fundamental conditions that created it. Pretty obvious.
The solution that Prof @RobertLustigMD is looking for is #Bitcoin - a digital sound money standard that will undo the harm caused by Nixon in 1971 and re-establish the basis for calculation of real value (and opportunity cost) in agriculture and food.
In fact, a 'interventional' societal experiment is already taking place. What would food, diet and eating habits look like on sound money?
Turns out bitcoiners naturally gravitate towards a diet rich in meat and other highly nutritious animal foods @bitstein
The Beef Initiative, by @modernTman is showing how #bitcoin leads to
- more beef consumption by consumers and ditching of processed foods
- regenerative, sustainable cattle practices by ranchers
- build out of redundant supply chains with local processing
In short, the dietary and agricultural #RootCauses America and the world's metabolic disaster resolve when society re-adopts a sound monetary standard that allows them to save into the future and properly calculate economic value.
The trainwreck of poor metabolic health that on the surface that appears to be problem of
- healthcare
- corporate greed
- government inaction
- agricultural mismanagement
is, at its #RootCauses, a monetary problem. Again, read The Fiat Standard by @saifedean.
This recent article by @scartagena_btc succinctly summarizes the gist of the problem

@Johnincarlisle dissects the Pfizer adverse event reports recently released under FOIA
Some thoughts...
This shouldn't be a surprise.
Under-reporting and obfuscation of adverse events by Big Pharma was predictable and anticipated by those who understood the deeply rooted financial conflicts of interest.
Read Ben goldacre or @malcolmken
Read about statin and oxycontin saga
Governments provided Big Pharma with
- vaccine oligopolies
- financially indemnification of adverse events
- guaranteed demand in form of vaccine mandates
Of course they're going to try to protect the source of their cash flow
The original extent of bison herds prior to European contact. That's a lot of grassland now being strip-mined with GMO corn and soy crops. Sad.
High-input, industrialized mono-cropping a historical and ecological abomination. It is sustained by government subsidies, agro-industrial lobbying and other forms of market intervention.

Alright this thread really blew up. Thank you and welcome to all my new followers. To be clear, I have presented one view of the topic as described by @TuckerGoodrich and @CarnivoreMD, which I agree
For what to replace your seed oils with check out the work of @RealOilRspctr and start using real fats. I prefer the animal fats rich contain fat soluble vitamins
