@AnnaForFlorida Respectfully, the #Florida Constitution doesn’t require the parliamentary system, so exact proportionality has never been an objective.

The current #FL05 is an obvious racial gerrymander - look at the map - and these look more compact.

The more urban areas include some creative lines for minority access, but, okay.

A legitimate issue is representation.

He should not have sought re-election.

Maybe @FlaDems urged him, but he chose to run; @Sheila4Congress challenged him; @browarddems @PBCDemParty nominated Hastings.

Seriously, then-Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL-20) in January 2019 responsibility announced his pancreatic cancer diagnosis.

He should not have sought re-election in 2020.

Maybe @FlaDems @browarddems @PBCDemParty urged him to retire, but in any event, he ran again in 2020, was renominated and re-elected, and, sadly, passed away in April 2021, less than 100 days in.

In 2018, @browarddems didn’t bother to check out the draft @BrowardVotes @Brenda4SOE General Election ballot early enough to fix any problems identified by such a standard review.

So half the big crowd was still out of sight when the President actually spoke.

@JohnCornyn, as Texas Attorney General 2002-2003, refused to defend the Texas sodomy law - on the books today - the Supreme Court declared unconstitutional in Lawrence v. Texas (2003).

Someone should ask him on the record why he wimped out.
