FYI: The #BA2variant has an R0 of 12. Let’s say you don’t know you’re Covid+ and you go to an indoor event maskless. If you’re vaxxed, you’ll probably survive, but one or two of the 1500+ you’ve spread it to by the end of two weeks will die, and up to 30% will have #LongCovid.

For perspective…in all of 2019, there were 1,775 people who died in alcohol related crashes where the driver was “only a little drunk,” at between .01 to .07 g/dL. You would never ever get behind the wheel if you’d been drinking, due to the risk of killing or maiming someone. /2

The CDC goes to great lengths to inform us of the dangers of secondhand smoke, which is…you know…airborne and stuff. Like Covid. #COVIDisAirborne

And of course there are those blaring the “personal choice” mantra. Well, guess who I am *never* going swimming with?

There is no peeing section of the pool,

no smoking section on an airplane,

and no Covid section of an unmasked gathering. /4

“wELL dO We JUsT sTaY INsiDe FoREvER?” No. And I can’t tell you what to do. But as for me, I don’t drive drunk, pee in a pool, or smoke in public because I choose to care about others.

I will *not* make the active choice to commit manslaughter because I didn’t want to mask. /end

P.S. A helpful thread for those who are only concerned about their own personal risk levels without regard to responsibility for community.

By the way, the “personal responsibility” approach - especially to pandemics - is exactly what insurance companies and big business want
