This was in Kanha 4 years back. I was staying in the house of my guide as we have that kind of a bond.
We went for the afternoon attempt and came back with some amazing sightings of Barasingha and a female Tigress. Happy!

I decided to take a stroll. While my buddy went in for a nap, I decided to step out for a stroll. It was winter and nice cool breeze was combing my hair.
I walked and walked and didnt realise I had gone too far. Sun was setting fast & I took a quick turn.

It was almost dark with no visibility and slight panic struck in. As usual I was carrying my camera along which slowed me down just a bit.
Occasional unexpected earthly noises thrown by the bushes kept me alert. I told my self- this was a bad idea.

From a far away I could see some random torch lights on the road. I was wondering what was going on. The lights gave me a better sense of direction and uped my speed. Slowly I could sense people were steeping out of their houses as I reached nearer.

A man came running at top speed to me, I saw it was my guide. He was sweating & tensed. He said- " Bhaiyya, kahan the aap? Kahan gaye the?" I said, "bas yuhin chal raha tha."
Bhaiyya- "Munna ko kaise bhul gaye aap?"

Then I realised, I wasnt aware of d territory change of Munna. My eyes said everything & he realised he didnt have to speak any further. Nonetheless, his wife came ahead & said "jis disha mein aap gaye the, udhar munna ghumta hai aaj kal. har hafte ek pashu maarta hai".

Munna was a huge male Tiger of Kanha. He had gotten old and had started preying on village cattle.
One of the most photographed Tigers in India. He was the King of Kanha and for me he will always be.
I was lucky, but till date I still wish I had seen him eye to eye.

Please note- This taught me a lot. Never do such a thing in the jungles. Information is key.
