They created a new, chaotic era of politics/democracy by allowing Trump/the GOP to govern by tweet. MTG, DT & ALL other elected nuisances who get booted from Twitter for inciting fascism created the precedent for their own exclusion, not just from social media but public office.

If social media’s really supposed to be a free market of ideas and conservatives really love free markets as much as they say they do, they should be able to let the chips fall where they may, but they can’t/won’t b/c they’re still butthurt that fascism lost the 2020 election. 🥴

Also the alt lefties are still mad that socialism lost the last 2 Democratic presidential primaries despite their damndest efforts to sabotage the process & because STILL WE RISE despite their online harassment, shadowbanning and slander. They all want a safe space for fuckery.

So basically this is a situation where the architects of anarchy on all sides are centering the debate on expansion of the already outsized role social media plays in our lives instead of holding their own selves accountable for wielding social media as a WMD in our elections.

Spend less time focusing on whether they’re gonna let Trump or any of the other very fine fascists on both sides back on Twitter & more time figuring out how you’re/we’re gonna stop all of them from winning another ELECTION ever again. Social media ain’t VOTES, wake the FUCK up.

Most of us wouldn’t give a fuck less about Trump tweeting (or not) if he wasn’t permitted to be a stochastic terrorist from the WH for 4 whole years, but that’s a legal & election issue now, not a social media one. If you want him off Twitter, vote to make sure he goes to prison.

Matter of fact, the MAIN reason we’re even in this mess in the first place is *fucking social media* and so many of y’all thinking your work is done just because you fired off a couple of kick ass tweets and threads. It was never gonna be enough and ALL of us have to do better.

If your revolution and hill to die on begins/ends with the user policies of your chosen social media platforms, you still need to connect the dots between your shitty experiences in the virtual realm, your votes (or non-votes) and real life as an American in a flailing democracy.

Frankly I’m just tired of watching folk complain about billionaires ad nauseam then do everything they possibly can to evade participation in democracy thereby opening the door wide open to governance by the very corporations, lobbyists and dark money they claim to want to stop.

I’m also tired of seeing people pretend that Trump’s Klan toothpaste can somehow be stuffed back into the tube by him simply just being banned from Twitter forever. Have they heard of Fox “news” or OAN? Do they know about RW AM radio? Facebook? Bueller? 🧐

Case in point, Rush Limbaugh’s been dead and buried for over a year now but that hasn’t stopped Republicans from distributing their batshit bigoted talking points, has it?! They’ll always have a faucet for their propaganda, the objective is barring them from public office/POWER.

The objective is electing more real Democrats who will actually hold the architects of anarchy accountable instead of aimlessly throwing ourselves into legislative gridlock by ceding elections to Republicans who’ve only aided & abetted chaos for their own personal gain and CYA.

And if your goal is sticking it to the billionaires, your objective should be to elect a solid, filibuster-proof Democratic Congressional majority that will actually tax and regulate them worth a damn. You aren’t flexing on them by leaving Twitter, they don’t know you or GAF.

You also aren’t flexing on Trump or pushing him any steps further away from running or winning again by “protest voting” via social media account (or lack thereof). He won’t go away until WE the PEOPLE do the work of OUTVOTING all of his accomplices & enablers.

Bottom line is I don’t have a dog in this fight between y’all and the billionaires, Bro. I tried to tell all of y’all that your ‘classism or bust’ only strategy was clearing a path for fascism and your tweets were summoning Russian bots but you got me and other WOC shadowbanned.

Either y’all or gonna learn how to vote reliably & keep voting over time so that you can steadily make progress and build on it to achieve your policy goals, or you’re gonna confine your civic engagement to the limits of social media and stay mad that you never get what you want.

We’re an extremely pitiful society if the stakes have become this high for consequences to be levied on social media bc our actual societal institutions of law & order have broken down so definitively that no one who’s responsible for destroying our democracy meets justice IRL.

None of this shit was ever normal to begin with but that doesn’t mean we have to surrender to the abnormality of it all by abdicating our duty to right these wrongs at the *ballot box and in our court system*. If we don’t demand justice with our VOTES, we surely won’t achieve it.
