So I've been hearing some good things about @nextjs for some time, and seeing only enhanced it. Also I'm bored, and (arguably?) have some free time, so I'm going to try to remake my blog (with 1 whole post) in next.js just for fun. Let's #Frontend!
To give some context, my only exposure to frontend development is from developing a couple #AndroidDev apps 3 years ago, and I have no experience with JS and hardly any familiarity with HTML/CSS (except making my @firefox look sexier with custom CSS) #BackendDevFrontends
HMB while I spend the next 4 hours setting up and customizing the Ultimate Development Environment™️ for Next.js for 10X productivity™️ #Developer#productivity
As a base rule, seeing any *Learn next.js in 10 minutes* videos is hereby termed as cheating and is forbidden, official sources only. So starting here nextjs.org/learn/basics/c…#BackendDevFrontends
A breakdown of the last 5 hours:
1 hr: Updating system and finding suitable vs code extensions
1 hr: Arranging Food/Coffee/Music
1 hr: Actually doing the next.js tutorial
2 hrs: Scrolling through the absolutely amazing remix.run site and reading remix vs nextjs ...
... which is an absolute delight to read if like me you're excited by architectural decisions, considerations and trade-offs. @remix_run is doing some amazing things in this respect, love the idea of leveraging the platform (i.e. the web). remix.run/blog/remix-vs-…
One thing I'm doubtful about is the cost associated with all the extra requests the server has to handle because of requests going through the server instead of directly from client (and prefeching all those partial searches, does cancelling help?). Maybe @remix_run can chip in
Here we goooo 🚀🚀🚀 Such a smooth experience, love it! (Granted, all the code is just copied from the tutorial, and I've changed all of 3 lines of css so far, but still) #BackendDevFrontends#nextjs
(Brb gotta figure out how to add a theme switch)
So curiosity led me to learn more about @tailwindcss and I'm in 💙
Spent the last 15 minutes making VS Code transparent + blurry. Such a breeze on KDE Plasma 💙 Just had to add store.kde.org/p/1191133 and use KDE's application settings to adjust transparency #blurrr#aesthetic
