Spending Sunday with @CWHerbster, former President Donald Trump and his fans. I'll try to live tweet.
Just spoke with traveling minister Kathy Brueggemann of Beatrice. She says she travels with Herbster and that he is a good man, a better man than people say. She said she learned of him through his mother in law.
Crowd starting to be let in at the Greenwood, #Nebraska’s I-80 Speedway. Trump set is on grass, little smaller than October 2020, but still room for at least 2k in here. Herbster and other speakers start at 2p. Trump is expected to speak at 5p.
Spoke with Dale Leeper of Omaha (Music was playing so loud it could have been Leever.). He said he came to hear Trump talk about the country recovering from President Joe Biden.

He said he might vote for Herbster because he believes Gov. Pete Ricketts is "dirty tricking" him.
Crowd filling in now.
Herbster doing a little pre-rally TV, talking about Trump being en route.
Also spoke with Baylie Nielsen and Kelly Robinson of Bellevue, who said they came to see Trump. Both said they plan to vote for Herbster because Trump endorsed him. They were here on Friday and came back. Said they wouldn't have missed it.
Hearing now that the event's first speakers have been delayed until 3 p.m., with Trump still aiming for 5 p.m. Crowd has filled in, now some overflow on both sides of the media risers.
My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell is here, talking to conservative TV hosts. He declined interviews with local mainstream outlets. He is expected to be among the Trump friends speaking at 3p. Trump still aiming for 5p. Plane lands in Link around 4p.
The rally just played Herbster’s campaign TV ad attacking @SenatorSlama. No real reaction from the crowd.

Read more about the ad here from the @NE_Examiner:

Trump advisor @KellyannePolls just spoke in a recorded message for Trump and @CWHerbster. She said she had to take care of family. She said she’s worked with Trump and Herbster for years. “This is simple. Follow Donald Trump’s lead. He endorsed Charles Herbster six months ago.”
Conway said it’s not unusual to see a state’s political establishment push back against Trump and a Trump-endorsed candidate. “This election is about Nebraska.”
You're going to hear a bit today about the establishment. Here's the story they're referencing. It came from months of reporting.

First story from the @NE_Examiner:

nebraskaexaminer.com/2022/04/14/gop…
Here's the follow-up, after they asked why nobody other than Sen. Julie Slama was named.

nebraskaexaminer.com/2022/04/19/thr…
Herbster defended himself, and ultimately sued Slama, alleging defamation.

nebraskaexaminer.com/2022/04/22/cha…
Slama counter-sued Herbster, alleging sexual battery.

nebraskaexaminer.com/2022/04/25/sen…
Every woman in the #NEleg issued a statement defending Slama and calling on Herbster to quit the race. Four announced a legal defense fund to cover potential legal costs for any women or witnesses who might come forward with credible allegations.

nebraskaexaminer.com/2022/04/26/fou…
One of the people who took them up on that offer came forward Friday, Elizabeth Todsen. She was one of the eight women in the original story, one of the seven who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Here is her story:

nebraskaexaminer.com/2022/04/30/a-s…
As first speakers walk up, crowd easily north of 2k, likely closer to 3k with overflow. Starting with prayer.
State Sen. Steve Erdman leads off. Erdman: (Thanks volunteers and officers.) Today we have the opportunity to listen to the 47th, I mean 45th president. (laughs). First I want to talk about an ad I saw on TV when Charles first ran, about not paying his property taxes (on time).
Erdman: He decided to pay his employees when he bought Conklin and skip his taxes two years in a row. (He missed property taxes more than those two years. And in one of the years he was late, he donated millions in politics.) The full story is here.

3newsnow.com/news/investiga…
Erdman: When Katie Mullen was harassed as a conservative student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Herbster was one of the only people, along with two other senators Halloran and Brewer, are the only people who defended her, not Jim Pillen, a regent.
Erdman: Contact the undecided people, even if I think it's lower than what polls show, and tell them to vote for Herbster.
Election conspiracy theorist Mike Lindell is next. Lindell: I actually brought a sheet of paper because I don't want the fake news getting these statistics wrong. Spent a lot of time in Omaha when I was growing My Pillow.
Lindell: ES&S is in Omaha (election machine company), I hope they sue me too. (He says, without offering evidence Trump got 80k votes more than credited.)
(Lindell's 80k number was just for Nebraska. ) Election experts in Nebraska, most of them Republican, have said the 2020 election in Nebraska was secure and accurate.
Lindell: Working to get rid of voting machines. Pitching his website. (Lindell and the people suing on election issues have lost near

"This was the biggest historical crime in history."

"Need politicians who will have your back, like Charles Herbster will have your back."
"Charles Herbster will have your back, just like Donald Trump had your back."
Lindell: We are on track to have this election decertified, may not have to wait for 2024. (Anything not quoted is paraphrased.)
Next up is CPAC chairman Matt Schlapp. Schlapp: I was just at the airport 17 minutes ago. Love your speed limit. I'm a midwestern man and it's great to be here. "There is a war on everything you care about." On everything you care about and on you yourself.
Schlapp: It shouldn't surprise you that when somebody runs for office somebody finds out that they're worse than they are. "When they go after Charles W. Herbster, when they go after Donald Trump, who are they going after? They're going after you."
Schlapp: (He's taking shots at Democrats, calling them a new socialist party.) They want to call you a racist. "I've got news for these socialists. You've woken up the great heartland of America. You're not going to take this anymore."
Schlapp: You're going to try new prescriptions, outsiders. Giving new people a chance to make the difference, "which could be the final difference for our country."
Schlapp: When you get to November, we're going to see a red wave tsunami like we haven't seen in a very long time.
Schlapp: There's one more step to take back this country, take back the White House. It starts here in Nebraska.
David Bossie, president of Citizens United and a paid campaign consultant for Herbster is next. Bossie: I saw how the election was rigged. Fake news media won't tell you. Goes against the narrative they like. Elections have consequences. Look at the disaster America is today.
Bossie: "America is falling apart and we have feckless, weak leadership from the White House."

"Charles W. Herbster must be the Republican nominee for governor next Tuesday."

The political establishment is trying to smear him. "They know that their power is in danger."
Bossie: If Charles Herbster is elected, he's going to make Nebraska great again. I'm sick and tired of the establishment here in this state. When Charles stood up and stood tall and ran for governor, they did nothing but tear him down. And guess what, he's still winning.
Bossie: Charles herbster is a leader, a great man, and he's gonna make a great governor. He's also going to fight for election integrity.
Bossie: Do you think that 400m didn't have an impact on that election? Of course it did. (He's talking about Zuckerbucks. I don't have time to explain. Google will help.)
(Most experts who study American elections have said the 2020 elections were free and fair. Audits, including those pursued by Republicans in Republican states have found no evidence of problems that would've shifted a single state's result. Trump's lawsuits were not successful.)
They're now sharing a trailer of "Rigged," Bossie's film about the 2020 election. Earlier they were showing ads for Trump's books.
Former NFL safety Jack Brewer, who played at Minnesota. Brewer: I'm here for Charles W. Herbster and I'm here for this country. (Brewer served Trump on a committee to help Black men and boys.) Says it was spiritual warfare then and that it's spiritual warfare now.
Brewer: These establishment Republicans, these RINOs talking against my brother Charles Herbster, that must end and end today. Let's demand we put prayer back in our schools. "Let's demand they get rid of CRT and all this transgenderism."
Brewer: Eight or nine women come out with a bunch of lies. (He asked God to step in.)

(The women's allegations were independently corroborated by witnesses and people the women told immediately afterward.)
Brewer: (He's criticizing the correspondents' dinner last night in D.C. for not praying.) I know exactly what type of warfare we are in. Men, we've got to stand up more. We have more fatherless kids than most countries.
Brewer: We have to stand up for conservative Christian principles in this nation right now. This spiritual battle will not be won without it.
(They're praying.)
Herbster heading to stage.
Herbster: The establishment has taken over the Nebraska Republican Party. They're trying to scare me out of the race. It's not going to work.
Herbster: I grew up with a German grandmother.
Herbster: There will be no critical race theory in any school system, including the university. "Trust me. The establishment doesn't want to lose control, just like the establishment didn't want to lose control of the country in 2016."
Herbster: "As governor, you will have the power, not the establishment." We're gonna do great things in this state for law and order. This is how you take down a nation and how you take down a state. No. 1, you start to chip away at election integrity, just like in Rigged.
Herbster: I pledge to you I will do whatever it takes to make sure we have election integrity in this state and in this country. (Again, local election experts say the election was free and fair and well-run.)
Herbster: I gave a lot of people money to run for office in this state and they didn't keep their promises. "I will do what I tell you I'm going to do."
Herbster: I'll make sure you mothers and grandmothers are safe in this state. "The illegals are coming for us." They don't know how good I am at fighting just like Donald J. Trump. (Illegal immigration has been an issue under presidents of both parties, including Trump.)
(However, most criminal justice research I've seen shows people in the country illegally commit crimes at similar rates to the resident population. Please correct me if someone has seen more recent research.)
Herbster: Most people who get in politics say one thing and do another. (Saying he was told to take his Trump plates off. Saying he was told to be a little less up front about his religion.) Know when God calls you home that you're gonna spend eternity with him.
The greatest night of my life, we (wife Judy and him) prayed to accept Christ into our life. June 22, 1982, Denver Marriott. "They may beat me. We'll see. It's gonna be up to all of you. Whether they beat me or not, they sure as hell ain't gonna win the war."
Herbster: We're gonna cut taxes. We're gonna quit CRT. (CRT is mainly taught in higher ed in Nebraska, as an elective. Others have alleged evidence of more.)
Herbster: We're gonna take sex education out of the schools and put it back in the homes where it belongs. We're gonna gives moms and grandmothers and parents the choice of where to educate their kids, home school, private school or public school.
Herbster: We're gonna quit funding the unions, the education system. We're gonna put the money with every single child.
Herbster: I'm all for legal immigration. I'm against illegal. (He's talking about his trip to the border and contact with people he met down there.) Talking about drugs, fentanyl.
Herbster: I loved those Canadian truckers who put all their trucks around Canada. We ought to get a lot of trucks, tractors and more and encircle Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Schumer.
Herbster: I find out that we got drugs or illegals coming into the state, I'm gonna grab me a couple state troopers that like me right now and we're gonna meet them.
Herbster: If they're coming into this state to state, I'm going to want to know two things, who are they and why are they here. If they don't answer well, I've got a little cash in my pocket and I'll put them on a bus to Washington. They won't see me coming.
(Governors are not typically allowed to do immigration enforcement. That's left to federal immigration authorities. States and local departments can help.)
(Herbster is going through a laundry list of what he'd ask. He's talking about some effort I'm unaware of to take In God We Trust off of money.)

This is the most important election in Nebraska in your lifetime. "We're at war. They've taken prayer out of the school systems."
(Herbster is again talking about other states and cities allowing churches to be closed, but it didn't happen in Nebraska.) Herbster: Our faith is under attack. Our freedom is under attack. (It's not clear from whom.)
(I'm sorry I haven't been able to fact check everything.) Herbster: You wanna come in this country, you need to learn to speak English. The next governor will have two extremely important jobs. One is to lead our state. Two is to oppose Biden admin.
Herbster: "I'm getting a little bit excited. I think we're gonna win this." But for a moment, if you're a veteran, if you're in the back, please raise your hand and put it up. (applause line).
(Herbster is now talking about China.) Herbster: If I'm gonna be your governor, I'm not backing down. I'm fighting for you.) (China is one of, if not the world's largest purchaser of foreign-grown food.)
Herbster: "China brought us the pandemic. (Experts disagree.) And Dr. Fauci should be impeached. (Not sure if he can be.)" They said wrap it up. This is my show.
Herbster: As your governor, China will not buy one acre of land in the state of Nebraska. (From what I've been told he would have no authority under the U.S. or Nebraska Constitutions to stop this.)
Herbster is done. Trump is next. Supposed to speak around 5p. Will check back soon and start the tweets again. Thanks for following along. If we got something wrong, please let me know and we'll try to get it right.
If they're playing YMCA, Trump is close. Like his 2-minute warning.
Crowd on its feet for Trump. He's still getting cheers like it was 2020, at least from this crowd. I've attended a bunch of these. They still follow a similar pattern. Lee Greenwood, I believe. Then he takes the podium.
(I'd send you a photo, but I'm live tweeting from behind the riser. I'll see if a fellow reporter will share one with me in a bit.)
Trump (opens to USA chant): Thanks for the victories we've had in Nebraska. (He did win statewide and the state's 1st and 3rd Congressional Districts. He lost the 2nd Congressional District in the Omaha area.) Saying he wanted to come Friday, but pilots wouldn't.
Trump: I could've gotten out of this one. I heard it was really bad. I said I gotta come back, and I'm coming back on Sunday. And that's where I'm at on that. Biden would come back on Monday. These are great families with us today. A lot of friends of mine here in the audience.
Trump: Six months from now, Nebraskans and Americans are going to fire Dems from Congress and elect Herbster to governor. (Says you could take the worst presidents of all time and they wouldn't be as bad as Biden has been over pasts 18 months.)
Trump: The contrast between the Trump admin's success. Even the enemy says it. They all say we had a great success, despite all the witch hunts and hoaxes.
Trump: I got gas down to $1.87. They have it at 5 or 6, maybe even 8 in some places. I achieved what was once considered impossible. We were energy independent. (Actually America did become a net exporter of oil, but we still imported oil as well.)
Trump: There's never been a border like this anywhere. It'll be 10 or 15 mil before that ends. There coming over at levels nobody's ever seen before. (Experts we've talked to say they're high but similar to during the W. Bush admin.)
Trump: We used to catch folks and send them back. We built our first section of border wall. Three weeks is all it would've taken to finish Phase 2. Saying it gave them record low immigration. (COVID-19 and some of the restrictions related to it may have impacted that.)
Trump: They gave (abandoned) military hardware to the Taliban. (He's talking about leaving Afghanistan.) Airplanes, helicopters, tanks, and 70k trucks. (No idea on live tweets whether this is accurate. Help if can.)
Trump: They took the military out first. I was getting us safely out of Afghanistan. We were gonna keep Bagram. It's an hour away from where China keeps its nuclear weapons. We were gonna get out with dignity, power and strength. We had 13 killed. What about the injured?
Trump: Biden turned Afghanistan truly into something nobody ever thought possible. Putin looked at that and thought this is the time to go in. On my watch, he would never have done it.
Trump: I spoke to him about it. He knew how I felt. Whole place is just a disaster (Ukraine). It should never have happened. He's going to the Javelin factory. We won Alabama, too. The same weapons I supplied to Ukraine while Obama supplied blankets.
Trump: I ended the pipeline. I supplied the Javelins. I got more from NATO. Then I had to listen to these people up here, the Fake News, say he's been so nice to Russia. (Crowd boos.) You know who didn't think I was nice to Russia, Putin.
Trump: Their whole party is based on misinformation. The impeachment hoax. The Muller "bullshit." They are the party of misinformation.
Trump: We had the greatest economy in the history of the world. There was nothing in the world like we had pre-COVID. We had no inflation, and we would have kept it that way. It was caused and started by energy prices. Food is worse than energy. Anybody buy some bacon lately?
Trump: It's quadrupled. That's cute. Biden created the worst inflation in more than 40 years. And it's going a lot higher. It's costing families 6k a year. Bigger than any tax increase than any government could imagine proposing.
Trump: First they said it was transitory. Now they say it's Putin's fault.
Trump: (He's now talking about Waters of the U.S. He worked to roll back the environmental restrictions.) (applause line.) We created 7m new jobs. 164 million people working. Largest poverty reduction in 50 years. Lifted people off food stamps and welfare.
Trump: Real wages have declined 12 months in a row. They have a thing called the misery index. Economy shrank to 1.4 percent in the first quarter. Fake News don't want to report it. When I talk about the rigged and stolen election, the cameras go off.
Trump: With COVID we had tremendous success. Operation Warp Speed was one of the most incredible things done by government. I rejected mandates and unscientific lockdowns and I fought to get our children back into school.
Trump: I let Republican governors run their state the way they should without interference from the federal government but with help from the federal government. We did an incredible job in getting them equipped.
Trump: Remember when they got credit for doing a great job ... it's because they took the credit. Almost everything they say is false. Biden failed on testing, failed on therapeutics, radical mask regulations.
Trump: (He's still calling it the "China virus." Saying the Spanish flu was no different.) I was also right about Wuhan. (He's referring to the lab-leak theory, which remains disputed, but is more mixed now. I think I was right about everything.) I hope it's not too late.
Trump: We have two and a half years to go. I never realized how important being president was until I watched this. Crowd chanting "Joe must go."
Trump: Thankfully a Trump-appointed judge struck down a mask mandate (on planes and other transportation.) Now stupid decisions are being made on the border and Afghanistan.
Trump: We didn't lose one soldier in Afghanistan until this. (I don't know what timeframe he's talking about. Thousands of Americans died in America's longest war.)
(Trump is playing a clip of Biden, a known stutterer, struggling to speak during a recent press conference.) Crowd is booing.
Trump: Biden should take a cognitive test. When the fake news started saying fake crap about me, Ronnie Jackson was the White House doctor, he said you're the healthiest of them. The perfect specimen. (Other doctors have criticized this description.)
Trump: “Charles W. is a good man and he’s been maligned. I defend people when I know they’re good, and he’s a good man.” He was with me from the beginning. He’s the last person to do any of this stuff. What did they say he’s done?
Trump: Did he talk to someone? (Eight women say he groped them.) By the time he clears his name the election will be over.
Trump: All we need is a House and a Senate and a President who will put America First. "Got more votes than any president in the history of our country by far." (Biden got more. Trump is second all-time.)
(Trump is now spreading debunked conspiracy theories about the 2020 election. No lawsuits succeeded.)

The Fake News doesn't want to talk about it. (We've reported on it extensively. I covered the 2020 election. We wrote about it all.) They call it the Big Lie.
Trump: We got truckloads of proof. (The overwhelming majority was rejected by judges and the courts, including Trump appointees.)
(Every election has fraud. Nearly every independent review of the 2020 election says there was no fraud in any state at the scale that could've changed a single state's result or the overall election, which Biden won.)
Trump is criticizing Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, who is heavily favored to win re-election despite Trump endorsing his opponent. He said he hopes people get out for David Perdue and Charles W.
Trump is criticizing Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, who is heavily favored to win re-election despite Trump endorsing his opponent. He said he hopes people get out for David Perdue and Charles W.
Trump: It would've been very easy to lose. Somebody wins, somebody loses. What's hard is you get more votes than any president by far. You win easy. (He didn't win.)
Trump: I would've loved to congratulate someone who won, "but it was a rigged election. He didn't win. He lost by a lot." (Biden did win. Even Republican-led audits in swing states confirmed it.)
Trump: Now Trump is criticizing ballot harvesting. Trump and his campaign harvested ballots using ballot drop boxes during his October 2020 rally in Omaha.
Here's the story on the ballot harvesting effort by Trump at his Omaha rally in 2020.

From @OWHnews:

omaha.com/news/local/gop…
Trump: They're waiting for Trump to lose so they can say Trump was embarrassed. If it's 40-3 they're going to say Trump is going to be humiliated. Guys like Mitch McConnell and RINO friends would rather see Biden be president than a Republican like me. (McConnell backed Trump.)
Trump: The Republicans in Congress don't want to do anything about the "rigged election." (Election experts disagree.) They say to look to the future. We can't look to the future until we understand the past.
Trump: A number of those races I picked underdogs. Talking about Ohio and Pennsylvania races, J.D. Vance and Dr. Oz. Not talking about Perdue a lot. Fox is trying to have Trumpism without Trump. Who likes Trumpism without Trump? (Crowd boos. Says no.)
Trump: I don't know how it's gonna play. Even the NYT said today segments featuring Fox's own reporters that were unfavorable to Trump, their ratings went down.
Trump: I have been under investigation for longer periods of time, from the day I came down the escalator with our great First Lady, and I say it loud and clear. I've had more investigations than Jesse James, Billy the Kid and Al Capone. (Two died. Capone went to prison.)
Trump: What is Fox Nation? Maybe they should hire me as an anchor. We'll sit there and we'll riff. We'll tell it like it is.
(Trump is still talking about the 2020 election.)
(Trump is talking about his core support in the modern GOP. He's showing slides on the Jumbotron.)
(Trump is now mocking Liz Cheney.) Trump: Wyoming was my No. 1 state. Hate to say it, Nebraska, but they even topped you guys. We should be able to get rid of her. She's horrible.
Trump: John Durham is putting out a lot of important stuff for our country. (Applause.) "Our country is just dying with this group of people."
(He's talking about crime and drugs.)
Trump: The radical left is weak on crime. He's going through his greatest hits. "Republicans are the party of law, order and life." Need strong "America First Republicans."
Trump: Right here in Nebraska you have a chance to elect a die-hard MAGA champion, been with us from the very beginning, Charles W. Herbster.
Trump: He wanted to help farmers on my ag advisory board. He had great careers in business and other things. Everything he did was successful. Nobody will fight for this state harder than Charles. Charles will never bend to the RINOs, the media or the radical left.
Trump: They're trying to make this happen to keep him from being in office. "He's already got the proper defense ... He's a fine man, and he's innocent of these despicable charges." (Slama has sued Herbster for sexual battery.)
(Herbster sued her first for defamation.)
Trump: We wasted two years on the fake Russia story, and they should pay a price for that. Your state is poorly represented by a grandstanding senator who's an embarrassment, a total embarrassment to the State of Nebraska, Little Ben Sasse.
Trump: Sasse, this little wise guy, asked me what I know about the military, health care. I said he's a fresh son of a bitch. I said he's a nasty guy. Then all of a sudden he starts going down the tubes. Graham, Cruz came over said meet him. He was nice for two years.
Trump: Then Sasse gets my endorsement, wins re-election and starts criticizing me again.
Trump is relaying a story about Sasse criticizing him for removing some soldiers from Germany. Trump: Sasse comes the day after the election and starts criticizing me. Germany is going to be just fine. Guy wins his election.
Trump: "Another one I think is bad news is your guy Don Bacon." I hope you vote against him. You have a gentleman running. I was taking pictures backstage. I don't know Steve Kuehl. He loves Nebraska. Bacon's been there a long time. He's not good. I'm not endorsing.
Trump: I've heard great things. I think Bacon's a bad guy. But I wish him all well. I think Steve will do well. "Good luck Steve, whoever the hell you are."
Trump: Herbster is an "authentic America First warrior."
Trump: "He's really somebody who's been put through a grinder and it's really unfair. Charles, come on up."
Herbster: I stood at Trump Tower when Donald Trump came down the escalator. Five presidents promised they would move the embassy to Jerusalem. Trump did. Three conservative Supreme Court justices. Thank you President Donald J. Trump.
Trump: "That's pretty good for a businessman." Early voting is underway. I think Charles is going to do very well. If he does, you'll be very happy. I think he's going to do a fantastic job. It's not even about the friendship.
Trump: He was there right at the beginning. Get out and vote for Charles W. Herbster.
Trump is recognizing a Missouri congressman. (Herbster has been criticized in TV ads as being a Missouri resident. He is registered to vote in Nebraska, in Falls City. He owns a home in KC.)
Trump is asking people to watch Schlapp's documentary.
Trump: Nebraska put a congressman in jail for a tiny amount of money. (Talking about Fortenberry.) Here's a group of people. "Looks very, very unfair." He said he didn't know about. "It's a very sad double standard."
(Trump now patting Mike Lindell on the back rhetorically.)
Trump: They're the longest commercials. Mike, cut them down.
Trump: We grew the conservative people's movement into a working people's movement. We've expanded this party to a level. Trumpism without Trump. We're never going back. We want a populist and nationalist. (Crowd chanting "We want Trump.")
Trump: Look at this beautiful corn. You're very lucky to grow up here. You have an incredible law enforcement group. And to your fire department. Our movement must continue to pursue a populist and nationalist economic agenda before globalist politicians who are fools.
(Corn hasn't grown yet.)
(Trump is now talking about Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania.)
(He's now criticizing Rep. Adam Kinzinger.)
Trump: We've done a great job. Democrats are horrible. Their policy is horrible. They stick together like glue. Ended NAFTA. Now have USMCA. Deal I made with China is better. Now they're not adhering to it as much.
Trump: Isn't it nice we finally have a deal that other countries want to renegotiate because it's helping us, not them.
(Trump is now talking about tariffs. Said they gave 28B to farmers.)
Trump: I see that beautiful John Deere tractor back there. Farmers stood with me all the way. The farmers stood with me. I was in the White House. We had 35 farmers who came in.
Trump: I said I'm gonna get you so much money. Said we're gonna do some subsidies. They said they want a level playing field. I gave them more than a level playing field. I've never forgotten that statement.
Trump: You'll have to buy more land, more acres, bigger tractors. (Now he's talking about a deal with China buying ag products.)
(Trump is talking now about the estate tax.) Trump: It's a good business, but it's not that liquid. I said we gotta do something because people are losing their farms because of estate tax. (The feds raised the amount of inheritance that's covered by the tax.)
Trump: We will keep winning for Nebraska.
Trump: One of our top priorities is to protect parents' rights. Nobody should be able to teach transgender to our kids without parental consent. Those days will soon be over. We will also keep men out of women's sports (applause).
Trump: I hate to say this to women. But if I were a basketball coach, I would have five men on my team because I want to win. I'll have the greatest basketball team in the history of the world. I'll say to LeBron, did you ever think about going woman, because I'd like to have you
Trump: We will get CRT out of our schools and local and state government. The Democrat Party is not a 50-50 party. They're against God. They're against guns. They're against oil. They're against law enforcement. Voter ID. They're against the Constitution. (They aren't.)
Trump: They're against the Founding Fathers. The only way they win is to cheat. (This overstates as fact what some subsections of the party believe.)
Trump: I don't think they'd win at all if we had fair elections. (Experts say the 2020 election was free and fair.)
(Trump is now criticizing talk about a new federal disinformation office.)
Trump: Jan. 6 was disinformation of the highest order. (I don't know what he's talking about there.) Herbster was with the Trump family on Jan. 6.

Here's our story.

nebraskaexaminer.com/2022/02/25/her…
(Trump is now re-litigating 2020 again. Talking about early voting.)
Trump: We want universal Voter ID. Citizenship verification. No drop boxes. In-person paper ballot voting on Election Day. Only absentee for military or people who are really sick. (Trump had drop boxes at his Oct. 2020 Nebraska rally for people to drop off early votes.)
Trump: Now all of a sudden you've got 48 days to vote. We are just six months away from the most important mid-term victory. We need a victory so big that the left can't rig it or steal it. (Experts say the 2020 election wasn't stolen. Republicans are heavily favored in 2022.)
Trump: "We're going to take back the House. We're going to take back the Senate. We're going to take back America, Charles." And in 2024, we're going to take back that White House. Before we do anything, we have to put Charles Herbster in the governor's mansion.
Trump: We will shut down the border. We will reinstate our strong Remain in Mexico policy. We will charge tariffs on their cars if they don't.
Trump: We will end catch and release. We will end the visa lottery. These are things we did.
Trump: MAGA is the best political movement in our country. Together we're standing up against some of the most menacing forces, entrenched forces. Despite outside dangers, our biggest threat remains the sick, sinister and evil people from within our country.
Trump: This nation does not belong to them. This nation belongs to you. From Lincoln to Omaha, from Norfolk to Hasting, from Grand Island to right here in Greenwood, you inherit the legacy of great people who gave their blood sweat and tears. We stand on the shoulders of heroes.
Trump: They made America the greatest nation in the history of the world. It is hard-working patriots like you who built this country. And it's patriots like you who are going to save this country. We will stand up to the radical left lunatics and the RINOs.
Trump: We are Americans, and Americans kneel to God and to God alone.
Trump: It's time to talk about greatness again. We are one movement, one people, one family and one glorious nation under God. We are never taking the name out. They want God taken out. (I don't know who they is.)
He's doing his wind up about making America Great Again.
That's a wrap. Sorry it lasted so long. Apologies to everyone who set notifications for my tweets.

A thread on the Herbster stories (1/9):

On April 14, after months of reporting that pre-dated the @NE_Examiner, we published the first story on the allegations of eight women who said @CWHerbster groped them at political events or pageants.

nebraskaexaminer.com/2022/04/14/gop…
The first round of rebuttals to the story attacked @SenatorSlama for coming forward, saying she was the only named person in the article, including witnesses. So we spoke with three people and they agreed to go on record with names. (2/9)

nebraskaexaminer.com/2022/04/19/thr…
Herbster worked to discredit Slama by saying that she was somehow part of a vast political conspiracy. (3/9)

Out at the #Trump rally in Greenwood, #Nebraska. Looks like a solid crowd of volunteers and fans. Weather and the former president are the talk in line. ImageImageImageImage
Hearing the rally has been postponed until Sunday, weather permitting. Still trying to verify with @CWHerbster. Image
Confirmed.

The debate will be live on KFXL and KPTM at 7p. It will also stream live on @NTVNEWS. I’ll try to live tweet.

Covering the @ketv @OmahaChamber forum @UNOmaha with three of the four key candidates running for #Nebraska governor. #NeGov.

@CWHerbster, @votelindstrom and @TThibodeauNE will be here. @jim_pillen will not.
Pro's pro @jcornellKETV will be moderating for @ketv.
Per Julie: There will be 2-minute opening and closing statements from the three candidates. No rebuttals. Questions come from KETV, questions submitted by viewers and the topics cover issues vital to Nebraska.

We are getting ready tonight for the first major gubernatorial debate of a #Nebraska GOP primary season that has seen far fewer than usual.

Tonight, @NebPublicMedia is hosting @CWHerbster, @votelindstrom and @TThibodeauNE, among others.

@jim_pillen did not accept any debates.
I'll try to live tweet some of the debate. But I may have to peel off to do some writing for the @NE_Examiner.

If you have questions, let me know.
Getting ready.

ICYMI: This morning, the #Nebraska Legislature is expected to give final-round approval to a bill that could force the state to accept $120 million in federal rental assistance that @GovRicketts has resisted.

Get ready for the vote @NE_Examiner:

nebraskaexaminer.com/2022/03/22/pus…
Update: The #NEleg passed a bill intended to force @GovRicketts to accept $120 million in federal rental assistance. But they did so after stripping the bill's emergency clause. Without a federal exception to the March 31 deadline to apply, those funds are likely lost.

Checking.
The bill would've needed 33 votes to force the governor's hand in time to apply by the month's-end deadline, using the emergency clause. If the gov lets it become law, and he might still veto it because it lacked 30 votes, it wouldn't become effective for three months.
