#Eritrea
My uncle #Idris Ramadan Eilos.
He joined the struggle at the age of 19 in 1967.
He spent 3 years in the second province and was sent to #Iraq in 1970 for more military training. He came back in 1972 and continued his work as a fighter.
In 1975 he was elected as a member of the Revolutionary Council and was chosen to be the deputy of Hamid Temsah. In 1977 he was spearheading the liberation of cities in Gash, Setit and Barka, as the second man. He lead the liberation of #Geluj, #UmHajar, and #Tesennay.
In 1978 he was chosen to be amongst the leadership who will liberate #Barentu. Sadly on the 8th May he was martyred in the siege of Barentu. Today marks 44 years since his Martyrdom and every minuet that I think about Eritrea I look upto his legacy.
He died at the age of 30 leaving behind 2boys and a girl. His family was living in a refugees Camp in #Sudan while the father was in the bushes of Eritrea fighting for the liberation of his country. The family is still living in Sudan and never had the chance to go back.
In 1998 when the war broke with Ethiopia my cousin #Mahnoud, his older son responded to the call of his nation and went to #Eritrea sadly, mahmoud was given a 15 day break in the beginning of 2000 to see his family. The family decided that he has to get married & go back to sudan
#Mahmoud accepted the marriage proposal but rejected the idea of fleeing to sudan. After a week, a quick wedding was organised and extended his stay for another week. He stayed with his bride for 2 weeks and returned back to the fronts. In June 2000 he was Martyred in Assab front
This isn't the end of the story.
His brother was killed by the #Ethiopians in 1968
His 2 sisters were killed in #Ona in 1970
He died in Barentu in 1968
His son died in #Assab in 2000
This is #Eritrea for us my friends & when #pfdj kids speak it's like dancing over our loss.
