🧵At last night's Debate, Doug Ford was directly asked by @MikeSchreiner whether he would support Bill 86 (tabled by the NDP)-London Family Act-to fight Islamophobia and racist hate, notably, by the creation of an Anti-Racism Advisory and Advocacy Council. No response. #ONelxn
The Act developed after a the killing of a London, Ontario family last June. It also calls for a ban on Queen's Park protests that fuel racist, homophobic, transphobic or xenophobic hate, and prevent white supremacy groups from registering as societies. Ford diverted, saying...
that he has helped fund security outside mosques, after the meaningless statement: "there is no room for racism in Ontario." This is nothing without legislative action. #AntiRacism
Why important? Ford has not taken decisive action against racism in #Ontario. #ONPoli

Note,
1) that when it was clear that the convoy in Ottawa was inciting hatred, Ford just said "Go home."
2) Pat King, leader of this convoy has also spread the "White Replacement Theory," a manifesto embraced by the Buffalo shooter who killed 10 people and injured 3, most of them Black, on May 14.
3) Recall that Ontario Proud, a right-wing organization bolstered the PC campaign toward victory in 2018.

4) Ford eliminated the Anti-Racism Directorate. #ONElxn2022

Last night, Ford had the opportunity to respond, to distance himself from hatred, from racism. HE. DID. NOT.

Back from canvassing in Eg-Law -- now feeling happy and alive instead of the creeping dread and anxiety we felt all morning about knocking doors after lunch.
Canvassing went well in our riding even though we had only one volunteer in addition to our core organizers. Almost everyone was friendly -- even if they wanted to end the conversation as quickly as possible.
The real takeaway for us was that people have lost faith in all the parties. I heard "the lesser of evils" several times and also "I'm probably voting for Ford, but I'm not happy about it".

Twitter wants to #VoteFordOut2022 but that isn't going to make it happen. Most Ontarians aren't even on twitter.

In this thread, we break down our plan to elect a better government. 🧵
Going into this election, Doug Ford is a little weaker than he was in 2018, the Liberals are a little stronger and the NDP is a little weaker. We can expect Ford to lose a few seats, and if we flip a few more we can ensure a minority -- meaning he will have to compromise.
Deep canvassing -- meaningful conversations at the door with lots of listening -- is proven to work.
