Justice L. Nageswara Rao says “When I came to the #SupremeCourt , I thought this was the last leg of my journey. I had a feeling that I should call it a day at 60 or 65 and go back to Hyderabad.”
Justice L. Nageswara Rao says “In 2016, when Justice Thakur offered me judgeship, he insisted that I consent immediately because I withdrew the permission two years prior. I told him there are some part heard the next day he said nothing doing.”
Justice L. Nageswara Rao says “My strength is the bar. The reason is I know most of you. When a lawyer argues I stand in your shoes, when I am sitting in your bench.”
Justice L. Nageswara Rao says “I acted in a short role in a film. That was about it. All of you know lawyers act in court……. Judges also do. Acting is a part of the profession.”

Justice L. Nageswara Rao says “ I was very fortunate in getting breaks in the right time. There are people who are much more competent than me. I just used the opportunities.”
Justice L. Nageswara Rao says “AG has been speaking that 65 years being a very young age for retirement. For judges coming from other High Courts, it takes 1.5-2 years to understand how things work here. By the time they understand they are looking at retirement.”
Justice L. Nageswara Rao says “to get used to judging it takes 2-3 years time. When we are fully prepared its time to go. Judges who come to #SupremeCourt should have a minimum 7-8 years, only then will we get best of the judges.”
Justice L. Nageswara Rao says “When a judge is chosen, they need to be given time to get the best of a judge. Especially in #SupremeCourt when important issues are being decided.”

BREAKING: The #CalcuttaHighCourt has ordered a CBI/NIA probe in a plea by the wives of 2 politicians alleging that their husbands were forcibly converted to Islam by a political party as a punishment for supporting a rival political party after they lost in the assembly election.
The order notes that the petitioners in the plea are two sisters and the respective husbands are the two brothers and worked for a political party that had lost the 2021 assembly elections. The husbands went missing in November 2021 and the wives filed a police complaint.
According to the order the complaint was received by the concerned Police Stations and was TORN UP by a civic volunteer. The Civic volunteer also informed the wives that
their husbands have CONVERTED to islam. #CalcuttaHighCourt
S. 4(3)(b) states that nothing contained in sub-section (1) & (2) of S.4 shall apply to any suit, appeal or other proceeding, with respect to any matter referred to in sub-section (2) finally decide, settled or disposed of by a court, tribunal before the commencement of the Act.
#SupremeCourt appointed inquiry Commission's report in 2019 encounter killings in Hyderabad rape-murder case stated, "accused were deliberately fired upon with intent to cause their death and with knowledge that the firing would invariably result in death of deceased suspect."
In #Disha Rape & Murder case encounter killing, the Commission has opined that all the 10 police officers are to be tried for the offences under Section 302 (Murder), 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of the Indian Penal Code.
A 383 page report has stated that a trial against the 10 police officers is suggested as the discussion shows that the different acts committed by each of them were done in furtherance of "common intention to kill the deceased suspects."

Attorney General KK Venugopal speaking over the retirement of Justice L Nageswara Rao said that we are loosing a very good judge and a cricketer. He has given a large number of very very important judgements.
We wish him great future, we hope that he'll be with us in various capacities, AG Venugopal added.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that as soon as your Lordships accepted the elevation I lost a very favourite counsel whom I used to brief.
#SupremeCourt will today consider the interim inquiry report of the three-member committee constituted by the court to probe into #Pegasus controversy allegations
Court reading out from the report, The technical committee has received and tested 20 Mobiles, the Committee has also recorded statements of petitioners. Through an public consultation a large number of responses have been received. It will be finalised by end of May 2022.
Court: It would require some time to consider the suggestions and recommendations of the committee.
CJI Ramana: They have asked for some time and we'll allow them. They are examining it, they have issued notices to some people and agencies also.
