1. I see academic toll-tax officers sitting in the hyper-sanitized departments of American universities, denying any cultural pathology behind the #UvaldeschoolMassacre. ‘Tribal Hindus’ (1 billion Indian Hindus) are admonished when they point out cultural reasons of the massacre.
2. It is assumed that just because we speak on American issues we are heartless monsters who gleefully rejoice killing of American children. Shockingly this is exactly how entitled white colonialists imputed lack of feelings & emotions to ‘bloody natives’ (tribal/Indian Hindus).
3. Just like it was a handful of colonialists who were the guardians of pontificating on all matters civilizational, now it is a handful of academic toll-tax officers in American universities who wear that mantle. We, the billion Indian Hindus, have no right to speak on anything.
4. They argue: America boasts robust community with racial diversity; victims were multi-ethnic; they feel sad when someone dies. What is most surprising is that the toll-tax officers making this irascible rant have built careers on finding cultural reasons behind everything.
5. Setting aside the unverifiable claims and the incongruous connections between different reasons given above, they don’t realize that the rosy picture that they are busy painting now of America would invalidate most of their ‘academic work’ arm-chair, or not.
6. To come to the point: Indians are not rejoicing anything. We are devastated & shocked that such a tragedy can happen because societies like India are not used to it. All the cultural reasons are imputed to the killer, who was capable of killing children for no reason.
7. The victims were of course multi-ethnic. But does it even matter? They were kids who got massacred. How does it matter to bring their race into it to prove America a ‘tolerant society’? When such a tragedy is being discussed, anybody who brings race into it, take a beat.
8. The community culture of America that is showcased is the culture of immigrants. It is not representative. The culture of the shooter is representative who symbolizes the collective angst against a culture which forgets to give them values, teach them ethics and morality.
9. What is sure is that the shooter belonged to the disgruntled, rudderless, nihilistic American youth, who feel no moral compunction in killing innocent kids. To not impute this to culture is only possible by massive sterilization by academic jargon & theories.
10. Nobody is arguing America has no human beings with a good heart. But the West, as a whole, is also a society which is capable of creating nihilistic terrorists like the Texas shooter, and then give them all the means to fulfill their deepest desires of killing innocents.
11. Indian Hindus are commenting because they see the same American culture seeping into India. If they do not take preventive steps then India will soon see shootings like this. So it is very much our job to comment upon what goes on in America, when global culture is upon us.
12. At last the argument against Indians speaking on US is always this: if you do not live on the sacred soil of America, you are not entitled to speak on it. Not to address the stupidity of it, but by this token the Chicago address of Swami Vivekananda will be null and void.
13. And interestingly by that token all the theories about India and Hinduism of the American academics should be null and void and yet they have built a career out of it. So my advice to them: take a break from arrogance and just empathize.

1. The throat-slitting of #KamleshTiwari & death/rape threats against #NupurSharmaBJP isn't new. It is as old as the advent of Iz!@m. Anyone who has just tried to say the truth in most civil words has been killed by true believers.
2. This did not start in modern India, or Denmark where they massacred the cartoonists of #CharlieHebdo. This started in the lifetime of the Prophet himself. Anyone who was even remotely considered as against him in thought was assassinated.
3. Not even women were spared. For a true believer had to complete his duty to ‘defend Iz!@m’ which often meant killing anyone who was opposed to it. Women didn’t matter. Honor didn’t matter. What mattered was silencing of those who oppose Iz!@m.
1. Everyone connects guns to shooting culture in the West & yet no one connects the very urge of shooting innocent children to nihilism of thoughts, anarchy in life, & the breakdown of every structure which provides anchor & identity in life, is beyond me.
2. No one thinks that it is the inner emptiness, that it is the absence of an inner spiritual anchor that lets people do what happened in Texas.
3. No one thinks that the work of the professors and thinkers in the Western universities, arguing that there is no morality or ethics and these are just human conventions, is directly responsible for what happened in Texas.
1. Bhāratavarṣa is a land of sacred geography. A culture which arose from the Sapta-Sindhu, at first, sanctified the entire land of Bhāratavarṣa from Kaṣmīr to Kanyākumārī with the ethos of Sanātana Dharma.
How did this happen?
2. It happened because our rṣīs came upon a wonderful formula to spread Sanātana ethos. They first sanctified the entire land of Bhāratavarṣa with Hindū cosmology by building temples all over the land which corresponded to Hindū myth.
3. This is how the geography became sacred as every part of India corresponded to some beautiful episode from an epic or a Purāṇa. No part of this country was left alone. Every nook and corner became sacred.
1. If there is one state which has paid the most horrible price of the social justice mathematics that our political parties and leaders have been churning, it is Andhra. Perhaps one of the most beautiful states of India laid to waste. The ruin is on many levels.
2. At first the caste hatred that is fueled by this social justice narrative is there, although most other states in India are victims to that, but in a state which is coastal, huge and sensitive, this was ultimately dangerous.
3. The greatest damage that is done to Andhra is its conversion to Christianity under the Christian missionary rule of YSR and then Jagan. Their rule has been nothing short of a Christian colonial conquest of a virgin pagan land of Andhra. They ruined the state.
A question I had been searching since I first encountered literature which told me there was something more to life than met the eyes; that there was an invisible force – culture – which kept life & civilization afloat.
2. Dictionary definitions didn’t suffice. They made Culture seem like a vegetable stall with an assorted offering of ideas, beliefs, customs etc. Yes Culture was that but that definition rose out of the aridity of academic ivory towers.
3. Then there were the anthropologists who saw Culture as the tool of White Man’s Burden on one hand and as a tool of Conquest of Nature on another. Culture for them ‘was a tool to control the forces of Nature for the use of Man’.
1. What the West fails to Understand in the Russia-Ukraine War
A primary problem of the West is that it denies existence to any other epistemology than its own. What is not real according to their current ideological standards does not exist at all.
2. So they will deny agency to religion in each and every case, attributing it to some economic or political reason. But they will refuse any religious motivation. The global media is demonizing Putin, again and again claiming, ‘it is the rapaciousness of one man’
3. Even great intellectuals like Harari and Taleb are playing into this false narrative that it is the political hunger of one dictator which is leading so many individuals down the violent road. Well, it is not. Any other leader of Russia with a vision would do this.
