For 2021, the #FBI released national-level data based on a threshold of 60% participation by federal, state, local, tribal, and college/university sworn officers. go.usa.gov/xJTxd
At this level of participation, the #FBI releases national data as ratios and percentages in terms of the most frequently reported responses to questions (in list format without actual counts). go.usa.gov/xJTxd
Agencies submitted data concerning qualifying uses of force that included any action that resulted in the death or serious bodily injury of a person, or the discharge of a firearm at or in the direction of a person. go.usa.gov/xJTxd
Last year, 50.7% of use-of-force incidents submitted to the #FBI resulted in serious bodily injury of a person, 33.2% caused a person's death, and 17% involved the discharge of a firearm at or in the direction of a person. Read more 2021 statistics at go.usa.gov/xJTxd.

Seventy-three law enforcement officers were feloniously killed in the line of duty last year—an increase over 2020. The largest percentage of these officers died in unprovoked attacks.
