CBS calls it the “Capitol Assault Hearings.”

NBC calls it “the January 6th hearings.”

ABC calls it the “Attack on the Capitol.”

These banners at the bottom of the screen make a difference in how people perceive the information. #January6th
It took 9 minutes for the hearing to show something other than a politician delivering a teleprompter speech.

That’s too long.

I have 10 students watching with me… And they aren’t watching anymore. They’re more interested in talking to each other than watching the screen.
“It’s too long,” said one of my students.

After 15 minutes, it’s just one politician speaking into the camera.

Literally no one is watching – the TV is on, but no one is watching.
Liz Cheney using direct quotes is better.

But the quotes should be shown on screen, not just spoken. #January6th
At 24 minutes in, we have something new: Trump’s own people were telling him that he lost.

Question is, are people still listening? #January6thCommitteeHearings
This hearing may be fascinating for reporters, but I will be shocked if it changes minds.

After the first 35 minutes, just 1 of my 11 students is paying attention. #January6thCommitteeHearings
Trump was only listening to people who told him what he wanted to hear.

No wonder he loved Twitter so much. #January6thCommitteeHearings
There are 2 narratives already developing this evening.

1. The first is that this hearing is well-argued, well-presented and powerful.

2. The second is that this is one group of politicians arguing with another group of politicians.

Okay, this video is big. This video is going to matter. This video is going to have impact. #January6thHearings
Every single person attacking a cop in these videos belongs in jail.

And yes, I said the same thing about the 2020 protests. #January6thHearings
Good move to do a 10-minute break.

It allows all the networks to put everything in context. This is definitely having an impact. #January6thHearings

If you compare U.S. gun deaths to all countries, we’re nowhere near the top. (That list is led by El Salvador, Venezuela, and Guatemala.)

If you compare U.S. gun deaths to high-income nations, we’re at the top by a country mile: healthdata.org/acting-data/gu…
If you name your podcast “BASED,” you should at least be competent at reporting relevant context.
Do you think our murder rate would remain the same without widespread, easy access to firearms?

For instance: Would a mass-stabbing have the same mortality rate as a mass-shooting? Sure, there are substitutes for guns – but they drastically decrease the success rate of murders.

I conducted a nationwide research study of Ukrainians with @PremiseData just days before the Russian invasion.

The results (like the invasion that has followed) are staggering.

Three examples… 🧵
@premisedata 1.) 65% of Ukrainians want the U.S. to be Ukraine's primary military and economic partner.

Just 12% chose Russia.
@premisedata 2.) When asked to choose between Russia or America, 79% of Ukrainians say they like and trust the U.S. more

Only 21% chose Russia.

The Russians now control Chernobyl.

These are my photographs from 3 years ago. This is what they did to that city.
The city is a true ghost town.

The people who lived there back then are all dead, poisoned by nuclear contamination.

The Russians told the world that there was no issue… They lied then, and they are lying now.
This was once a vibrant city.

Now look at it.
How can we ignore their cries for help?

Every CEO you see now talks about being “inclusive” and treating their employees better – but people don’t believe most of them.

However, my focus group co-hosted with ConversateLab.com felt that @GM CEO Mary Barra (@mtbarra) was genuine.
🗣 “What advise would you give CEOs to keep employees from quitting?”

ConversateLab.com got to the biggest point of all during our focus group with Americans who changed jobs over the pandemic.
“Putting one of my kids to bed one night, which is something I didn’t get to do when I was coming home late from traveling.”

My focus group with ConversateLab.com describes the “Aha!” moment when they decided to quit their job during the pandemic.

At the end of each year, I think about my successes, my failures, and what I could’ve done better.

I will present these #LuntzLifeLessons over the next 10 days to encourage the thoughtful conversation and respectful reflection we all want, need, and deserve.
This #LuntzLifeLessons thread is dedicated to my students all across the globe. You have made my life meaningful and purposeful, and I should at least try to do the same for you.

But since this is Twitter instead of a classroom, all lessons will be taught with memes. 😆 Image
1. The first rule of life is that there are no rules.

Every day is different.
Every experience is memorable.
Every person is special.

You just have to look closely and listen carefully. #LuntzLifeLessons Image

This should be the top story in American media right now, because its effects will be felt by all Americans.
This will affect Americans’ lives a lot more than the latest White House tell-all book.

News media need to prioritize it.
“Home Depot, Costco and Walmart have resorted to chartering their own ships in a push to stock shelves for holiday shoppers.”
