Today is a giant step forward for our country as, after decades, Roe is finally overturned. Folks, after almost 50 years of standing up for unborn babies, our prayers have been answered. #alpolitics (1/6)
The fight continues, though. Here in Alabama, we have been preparing for this day when the decision-making authority on abortion is rightfully returned to the states. (2/6)
In 2019, I was proud to sign into law the Alabama Human Life Protection Act, which is one of the strongest bans on abortion in the country. (3/6)
Currently, there is a halt by a federal judge on the enforcement of that law, but now that Roe is overturned, the state will immediately ask the court to strike down any legal barriers to enforcing this law. (4/6)
As I noted when I signed the Alabama Human Life Protection Act, every life is precious and a sacred gift from God. We will not relent in our efforts. Ensuring this 2019 law can be enforced is the next and very critical step to protecting our babies. (5/6)
This is a historic day, and I could not be more proud as a governor, a Christian and a woman to see this misguided and detrimental decision overturned. (6/6)

As of Mon, AL has seen the lowest avg for new #COVID19 cases & hospitalizations since the spring of 2020. Y’all, this is definitely an indication we’re moving in the right direction. Thank you, Alabamians, for your tremendous help & support to get us where we are. #alpolitics 1/8
As I’ve previously stated, Alabama’s mask order will expire at 5 p.m. on April 9. Today, I’m announcing our state will then enter into our Safer Apart order, which will be in effect until May 5 at 5 p.m. governor.alabama.gov/newsroom/2021/…@ALPublicHealth#alpolitics 2/8
Folks, we still have a public health order, but it’s greatly slimmed down due to everyone doing their part to practice social distancing, wearing a mask, & voluntarily getting a vaccine. I continue to encourage you to do all of these things & make smart decisions. #alpolitics 3/8
As of Tues., AL has seen the lowest avg for daily new #COVID19 cases & hospitalizations since June. Y’all, this is definitely an indication we’re moving in the right direction. I want to thank Alabamians for their tremendous help & support to get us where we are. #alpolitics 1/8
Even with this positive news, Dr. Harris & I believe more Alabamians need to get their 1st shot before we take a step some other states have taken to remove the mask order altogether & lift all restrictions. Folks, we’re not there yet, but we're getting close. #alpolitics 2/8
Our new, modified order will include several changes that’ll ease up on some of our current restrictions, while keeping our mask order in place for another 5 weeks, until April 9. After April 9th, I will NOT keep the mask order in effect. governor.alabama.gov/newsroom/2021/…#alpolitics 3/8
I want to first acknowledge our friends from South Alabama who are getting their lives, homes & businesses back in order following #HurricaneSally. We’re doing everything we can at the state level to help you get back on your feet just as quickly as possible. #TogetherAL 1/7
Today, with the support of Dr. Harris, I’m extending our #SaferatHome order for another 5 weeks. This includes extending our statewide mask requirement until Sunday, November 8. @ALPublicHealth#TogetherAL#alpolitics 2/7
I look fwd to being able to lift the mask order as much as you do. The reason we’re extending this order until after the election on Nov. 3 is because it’s important to have a safe environment for poll workers & citizens to vote in-person. #TogetherAL#alpolitics 3/7
#HurricaneSally dumped an enormous amount of rain & lingered over the Alabama coast for far too long; as a result, many people are still cutting down trees, sorting through debris, & are still without power. #HurricaneSally#alpolitics
From meeting with our coastal leaders, I can assure the residents here that you’re in good hands. Many of the officials here have been through this before. I have no doubt they will use their experience to help you get back on your feet as quickly as possible. #HurricaneSally
I’d like to reiterate my appreciation to the first responders, lineman, @AlabamaNG, Marine Police, Troopers, local police & sheriff’s deputies and countless others for working around the clock to help your fellow neighbors. #alpolitics#HurricaneSally
To the people of AL, know that we’re using every available asset & resource at the state level to support you in recovery. I assure you that we’ll be there for you as we start rebuilding our homes, businesses & communities over the coming days, weeks & months. #alwx#alpolitics
For those who’ve been directly touched by this storm, your fellow Alabamians are praying for you, & we stand ready to support you in every way humanly possible. I will visit some of our hardest hit areas & assess the damage firsthand when it is safe to do so. #alwx#alpolitics
I’ve been in frequent communication with our friends from @alabamapower & @powersouth. They hope to get their crews out today. Yesterday’s weather made it almost impossible to do anything more than provide power to hospitals, water systems & the like. #alwx#alpolitics
We're here to provide a briefing on #HurricaneSally, to share what’s been done so far & to discuss what we’re currently doing to hopefully keep our citizens safe as this slow-moving storm makes landfall later tonight. #alwx#alpolitics@AlabamaEMA@NWS
@AlabamaEMA@NWS Yesterday, I talked w/ @RepByrne as well as the various mayors & county commission chairmen, & offered every assistance humanly possible. Luckily, our local partners are also experienced leaders in emergency management. We’ll be there standing shoulder-to-shoulder with them.
The @WhiteHouse & the Trump Administration have been great to our state. They’ve been in constant communication with my office, & we greatly appreciate their offer to assist where possible & for them keeping an eye on Alabama. @POTUS#alwx#alpolitics
