I've had an "illegal" & a "legal" abortion. I wasn't raped. The pregnancies didn't threaten my life. I didn't already have children. I just didn't want to be pregnant.

I am childfree by choice. Very happily so.

I have been able to choose to be childfree because I had access to safe abortion care--and "illegal" abortion and a "legal" abortion." No one should be forced to give birth.

I use inverted commas around "illegal" and "legal" because I reject the State’s attempt to control my uterus. The State--and the Supreme Court--can fuck off with its opinions about what I can and can’t do with my uterus. That control belongs to me. feministgiant.com/p/abortion-is-…

Criminalizing abortion does not eradicate it nor does it make it rare.

It makes it dangerous and often deadly for the poorest and most vulnerable people who can get pregnant.
