#DagenhamFire Appears to have caught the attention of home sec @YvetteCooperMP (long post)
Sector contact sent this planning application detail across earlier this morning - appears the Dagenham block had cladding remediation in 2023
Form the incident footage appears to have lost the roof level which is similar to the #Boltoncube - student accommodation fire but with cladding replacement at Dagenham, hazard different fire spread dynamics.
Recall the @ROCKWOOLUK white-paper on the fifth facade - flat-roof construction. …
Possible this was A) another balcony fire which spread to the structure in Dagenham or B) a compartment fire which penetrated what appears to be a lightweight construction.
How many more now exist following the last governments disastrous pre #Grenfell legislative gaps or post #Grenfell permitted development schemes. …
How have the complexities of the building or fire safety acts improved public safety in existing & new buildings
…
One things for certain a significant @LondonFire response & major incident declared + another block of families displaced, with uncertain futures.
Dare say the insurance sector @BritishInsurers or mortgage providers will have a view on the fire & particularly given a number of other recent roof level fire burnouts.
This is very bad optics for the new home sec & government, when @grenfellinquiry phase 2 report is pending 4th Sept 2024.
As i said on @SophyRidgeSky following the #Chalcots emergency decants
“This is a decades old issue, spanning all political parties”
As with any incident or disaster, it should not be used as a political football, but sadly often is.
Now we are witnessing another reminder that a #Grenfell2 may be just around the corner.
