It's a Super Tuesday with a special House election in Nebraska, House GOP runoffs in Mississippi as well as primary elections in Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Utah.
Special #NE01 House election today to fill fmr GOP Rep. Jeff Fortenberry's vacant seat until end of 2022.He resigned March 31 after being convicted.Fmr NE Legislature Spkr Republican Mike Flood & Democratic State Sen Patty Pansing Brooks face off in both today's & fall elections.
Two House GOP runoff elections in MS today: 6th term #MS04 GOP Rep. Steven Palazzo,who is facing Ethics Cmte investigation for allegedly misusing campaign fund,& 2nd term #MS03 Rep. Michael Guest,who voted to create independent commission to investigate 1/6 attack on US Capitol.
In Colorado, 1st term western #CO03 GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert faces a primary challenge from CO state Sen. Don Coram. Republicans will elect their nominee in the #COSen race to run against Democratic Senator Michael Bennet in the fall election.
In Illinois, both Democratic and Republican House incumbents are primary election today:
- Rs: Rep. Rodney Davis vs. Rep. Mary Miller
- Ds: Rep. Sean Casten vs Rep. Marie Newman, Rep. Danny Davis vs Kina Collins
- Open race for retiring 30-year Democratic Rep. Bobby Rush's seat
In Oklahoma, there's two #OKSen primary elections:
1) Republican Sen. James Lankford is running for reelection
2) Primary for retiring Republican Senator James Inhofe's Senate seat. August 23rd primary runoff may be needed if if no candidate gets more than 50% of the vote today
In New York, it's primary day for Governor and other statewide races. Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul faces several primary challengers and Republicans will be elect their nominee for the fall election. Primaries for US House seats & special House elections will be held August 23rd.
2nd term Utah Republican Senator Mike Lee faces primary challengers in today's #UTSen GOP election.
In South Carolina,Democrats will elect their nominee today to run against GOP Sen. Tim Scott in the fall election.Scott is vying for 2nd full term.Democratic SC state Rep Krystle Matthews & Catherine Fleming Bruce are facing off in #SCSen Democratic primary runoff election today.

“This morning, Senator Patrick Leahy will undergo surgery to repair a broken hip that he suffered as a result from a fall at his house in McLean, Virginia, Wednesday night” per his office.
“Having been born blind in one eye, the Senator has had a lifelong struggle with reduced depth perception. He has taken some remarkable dingers over the years but this one finally caught up with him.”
“His doctors determined that the best course of action would be to have surgery to repair his hip as soon as possible.  He is expected to make a full recovery and begin a healthy course of physical therapy immediately” per Senator Leahy’s office.

January 6th Committee has subpoenaed former Trump White House Counsel Pat Cipollone for deposition testimony as a part of their investigation into the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Jan. 6th Chair Thompson & Vice Chair Cheney: “The Select Committee’s investigation has revealed evidence that Mr. Cipollone repeatedly raised legal and other concerns about President Trump’s activities on January 6th and in the days that preceded.”
Thompson/Cheney: “While the Select Committee appreciates Mr. Cipollone’s earlier informal engagement with our investigation, the committee needs to hear from him on the record, as other former White House counsels have done in other congressional investigations.”
