So my #prolife friends who haven't read #TheHandmaidTale have a better idea about the slippery slope some people in the US think we're on after the #DobbsDecision, in the novel Serena Joy was a public figure who helped bring about a theocracy ruled by men, in which 1/5
homosexual and premarital sex were punishable by death, and women weren't allowed to read or write and couldn't have their own money so they'd be dependent on men. Because Serena and her husband haven't been able to have children, they are allowed a Handmaid, 2/5
a woman who has somehow "sinned" against the theocracy and is known to be fertile. The Handmaids are ritually raped by the men to whom they are assigned in order to get them pregnant as surrogates for the infertile wives. 3/5
Some people think that pro-life women are like Serena Joy, who did not see her own loss of autonomy coming. These people think that banning abortion will lead to women's rights perhaps being set back over a century 4/5
to when women couldn't vote or even further back when married women couldn't own property. These people don't see that society has advanced to desire equal rights for all human beings and it follows that the lives of prenatal humans should be protected 5/5 rd.com/list/things-wo…
P.S. They also don't realize that the #prolife movement is quite diverse and very few in it desire a theocracy or even agree on much aside from wanting to protect the lives of all innocent human beings. Also, the first feminists were anti-abortion.

Abortion activists are sharing photos of what appear to be blobs of tissue that they say are six-to-eight week #embryos. I have my doubts, as information on the internet indicates an #embryo is fairly developed by eight weeks. sciencephoto.com/media/493758/v…
true, an embryo is quite tiny, but even at 7 weeks, a lot can already be seen
Eight-week fetus from an ectopic pregnancy. (At the eight-week stage of development, an embryo is now medically considered to be a fetus).
How many times have #prolife heard "no one is pro-abortion"? I wonder if the people in this thread will change their tune now that PP endorses the term?
There are so many ridiculous claims about what will happen if #RoeVsWade is overturned #RoeOverturned#RoeVWadeLeak. Treatment for miscarriage and ectopic pregnancies will not be criminalized or investigated. Those are not the same as abortion.🧵
None of the states have laws on the books that would prosecute a woman who has an abortion and the few times some radical has proposed such a law, it's been easily voted down.
No states have a law making abortion illegal if it is necessary to save a woman's life and it is extremely unlikely any ever will, given public opinion overwhelmingly supports that exception.
Congress formed a select panel to investigate a number of claims related to Planned Parenthood’s activities involving abortion and fetal tissue procurement.
"The Panel did not design its investigation to prove or disprove the credibility of tapes released by the Center for Medical Progress (CMP); however, the Panel viewed the videos as a series of serious claims made by a citizen advocacy group."
