My May 19 to June 20th water bill not showing any better savings from last month. But, I did soak the yard and trees on May 30th before watering restrictions went into place. #drought
That said, apparently saved 4,488 gallons year-to-year for the same period. That's a 40% reduction. 51 gpd usage (including outdoor food garden and fruit trees).
Will see what July looks like -- that will remove the soaking from May, and new water-saving shower (Navy showers!). Still, probably 20gpd usage right now from hydroponic tomatoes will impact the water savings.
Funny enough, they have "55 gallons per person per day that the state is delivering for “health and safety” purposes through the State Water Project" -- so we're doing health, safety AND tomatoes.

Random: figured out you can't easily buy a new Honda inverter #generator in California (no retailers will ship one into California). Not sure if this is supply chain, Honda getting ahead of CARB rules, or what. (California is banning non, zero-emissions small engines soon).
The CA ban is for a good reason (they are very polluting), but it makes for difficulty in #disaster#preparation (solar is great, but not nearly as capable of powering a large amount of equipment) ww2.arb.ca.gov/news/carb-appr…
You *CAN* still buy generators in California, just not Honda, so some mystery there. (I'm specifically looking at the Honda due to RF/noise/reliability, will be converting it to run off propane & natural gas). There are cheaper multi-fuel generators you can buy, though.
Actually, looks like #Nebraska and #Kansas with some major possibilities for heat. I'm hoping this doesn't impact agriculture as much as I suspect it will. 122F would be bad. #heatwave
Here's a #golf course, I guess someone is still watering them even though people are without water in parts of the city. Labeled "Zona Campestre" #Monterrey#SinAgua
#tepary bean experiment, #monsoon crop from the Sonoran Desert, cultivated by the Tohono O'odham
Experimental #tepary plot #1. Formerly lawn. Slightly shady, no soil improvements yet. Adding half a tray of worm compost. 2x2 plot.
Tepary are extremely, extremely drought and #heatwave tolerant. USDA says they produce viable pollen and set seed at temperatures greater than 105F (!!!)
