About 80% (or over 300) local authorities have declared a "climate emergency" yet only a few have a clear plan on how to get there.

But that is changing.

Dec 2021: Only 15 councils had a LAEP completed or in the works.

Jul 2022: Increase to 43 councils in just 6 months.

NEW REPORT: Up to 75% of local authorities have declared a climate emergency ..

Yet only 15 of almost 400 councils are so far developing clear Net Zero plans that meet the gold standard criteria - called a Local Area Energy Plan.

1⃣ Codes of Practice (COP) help to identify opportunities to improve best practice and identify shared risks.

⚡This brings clear benefits as it acts to protect customers and improves investor confidence in the wider #energy sector.

2⃣ We found that the breadth of industry support gained is a key indicator of a successful COP.

✔️For example, the CoP covering #HeatNetworks - which worked hard to gain wider sector support - has been highly effective and had an especially big impact on procurement.
