We made a little collection of Tory perspectives on refugees, asylum seekers, and the #Rwanda policy. One of these people may be our next PM!
Starting with Rishi Sunak, who has consistently voted against a more accessible, supportive asylum system, he’s evil as they come…
1/13
Penny Mordaunt, following her Twitter posts from yesterday, she is best summed up by @WilksBecca -
"Some have tried to paint me as marginally less monstrous than the other candidates - Let me assure you, they are wrong."
2/13
Liz Truss takes a leaf out Johnson’s book as she has been accused of lying about the horrendous #Rwanda policy, but she doesn't have any better ideas…
3/13
Tom Tugendhat suggests Britain's response to the refugee crisis has been woeful, but seems to be keener to stop refugees reaching the UK than supporting those in need, fleeing for their lives. Unpleasant would be an understatement…
4/13
Jeremy Hunt next. Not only would he ignore the #StopRwanda pleas, he would seek to EXPAND the 'cash for humans' scheme. One to watch out for as he could be one of the worst ones…
5/13
Grant Shapps seems to believe France isn't doing enough and should work with Priti monsterous Patel to address the issue. Backed Johnson far to often and no friend to refugees…
6/13
Nadhim Zahawi believes *some* refugees may be legitimate, but without elucidating how he knows which are and aren't, demonises the 'illegitimate' ones. Whilst victim-blaming them for risking their lives…
7/13
Sajid Javid chooses to believe the worst of asylum seekers fleeing for their lives. With this attitude, we can count on to only reinforce the #HostileEnvironment …
8/13
Kemi Badenoch is happy to support Ukrainian refugees but otherwise 'doesn't care'. An Equalities Minister who doesn’t believe in the impact of colonialism and is unbothered by inequality….
9/13
Suella Braverman goes a little further to suggest refugees should be someone else's responsibility, and blames European courts for the UK having to do anything supportive. She also supports the #Rwanda 'cash for humans' scheme…
10/13
And last but not least, we end with the most villainous, Priti Patel. She is known to have endorsed the fascist movement linked to Indian PM Modi (HSS/RSS/Hindutva). Wanted to deploy LIFE THREATENING ‘push back’ tactics in the channel…
11/13
The #Rwanda plan is purely a 'cash for humans' scheme, lining Tory pockets:
1:
The Council of Europe has big plans to improve and resolve the struggle faced by refugees. Their aim between 2021-25 is to support their member states to develop their approach to supporting refugees and asylum seekers, vastly improving outcomes for those fleeing danger.
2:
The UK, as a member state of the Council of Europe, must ensure its policies reflect moves towards compassion, support and integration. We have seen public and corporate disgust at the #Rwanda plans. We urge those in charge, especially at this time of political unrest,
3:
to reflect and commit to doing better.
The UK must cast off its colonial mindset, it's plans to dispose of refugees in dodgy deportation deals, rescind on its current 'cash for humans' attempt, & must embrace a decent, humane approach.
What do you think it means to be a 2nd class citizen in Britain?
Fewer rights? Poorer housing? Inadequate healthcare?
Or that the police and justice system just don't want to support you? Or actually persecute you?
We must rally around those who need us. 1/4
We must build community. We must make an effort to reach those who seem beyond help. Shake the systems that keep people stuck. Refuse to continue blithely accepting what is simply unacceptable.
2/4
Without grassroots action and genuine connection, nothing will happen. Without tapping into the notion that we are each worthwhile, and stronger together, the status quo will remain.
3/4
You have no right to be uptight
when we pull you up on you’ - (#SOC)
2/6 During his visit to #Rwanda, Johnson was asked by reporters whether Ukrainians will be sent to the East African nation if they enter the UK undocumented or by irregular routes:
3/6 “So I’m afraid the answer is I suppose, yes, in theory that could happen but I think it’s very unlikely.”
74 years ago, on the 22nd June, 1948, the HMT Empire Windrush docked in Essex with hundreds of Caribbean immigrants on board.

They had been invited to the UK by the government to help rebuild Britain after the second world war. Many found jobs in the NHS and other sectors lacking workers.
2/13
At the time the Caribbean was part of the Commonwealth so the Windrush Generation - the people who arrived into the UK from the Caribbean between 1948 and 1973 - were free to live and work permanently in the UK

This #WorldRefugeeDay we would love you to pause for a moment and think what it means to be a refugee, why it matters to support refugees, and crucially, what we can ALL do to help 🧡✊ 1/5
Because for refugees, the situation they have fled and the situation they find themselves in, can be massive, traumatic sticking points. Sometimes barely an escape at all - 'out of the frying pan into the fire', as it were. This #WorldRefugeeDay please listen... 2/5
This #WorldRefugeeDay please consider how YOU can act to help. Can you raise awareness on social media? At home, at work, with friends? Can you donate to organisations already fighting for refugees, like @JCWI_UK? 3/5 jcwi.org.uk/help-us-fight-…
