A report by @UNICEF published last year describes how already over a BILLION children's lives are at 'extremely high risk' from climate breakdown. 5/12
.@IPCC_CH Paris Climate Agreement setting a 1.5C temperature target to halt catastrophic climate change
But banks around the world have continued to invest TRILLIONS 💵in new fossil fuel developments.
@jpmorgan tops the list, investing over ‼️$382 BILLION‼️ in 5yrs. 8/12
Fossil investments by @jpmorgan & friends means we will produce more than TWICE the fossil fuels in 2030 than is compatible with meeting our necessary climate targets.
For them, shareholder profits are more important than millions of lives ☠️ 9/12 [Graph: @UNEP]
They need to stop financing harm and invest in a sustainable future for us all.
We solemnly take action today to bear witness to their crimes against humanity. 11/12

With the UK’s first ever level 4 national emergency heat red alert declared for this week, this morning, healthcare workers carefully cracked the windows at financial services giant and investment bank JP Morgan’s offices in Canary Wharf.
Here’s why:
GP Dr David McKelvey says:
“Today we do not lightly engage in breaking a pane of glass in the mighty @JPmorgan glass tower; it is done thoughtfully and carefully. Nothing else seems to have let the light in – hopefully this crack will, for the sake of all our health.”
Maggie Fay, Dementia Specialist Nurse says:
“I am here today because people living with dementia will die as a consequence of this lethal heatwave. I must ‘Act without delay if [I] believe that there is a risk to patient safety.’ That danger is here and it is now.”
UPDATE BREAKING NEWS: staff at JPMorgan corporate run wrangle banner from Doctors for XR activists.
🌿The banner may have been taken but the message remains @jpmorgan are charity-washing🌿

JPM are net-terrible for the children of this world despite donating to @NSPCC because they're the world’s leading financier of fossil fuel expansion. Giving away a tiny % of immorally earnt money does not make you a good corporate citizen. #JPMCC 2/4
Would you attend a Corporate run hosted by Exxon Mobil or Gazprom? Many wouldn’t because they know how harmful these companies are. But JP Morgan are arguably just as bad. Their money funds companies expanding the pipelines and planning to drill in the arctic. #JPMCC

BREAKING NEWS : Doctors for XR disrupt the JP Morgan Corporate challenge in London.
Why? Because JP Morgan’s continued investment in new fossil fuel infrastructure will disrupt health + healthcare systems. We must do what we can to turn off the money pipeline #JPMCC 1/5
JP Morgan are the world's dirtiest bank - investing 34% more than any other bank in fossil fuels. They are the biggest investor in fossil fuel expansion which the International Energy Agency say is not needed to power the world. 2/5
What's worse, the fossil fuel projects JPM is financing in the global south will take years to produce. They will become stranded assets as fossil fuel demand falls - and lead to even more debt. 3/5

This morning, doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers blocked HM Treasury, to call on the government to stop financing fossil fuels in the name of public health. #ActNow#ForHealthsSake#WorldHealthDay#PaidToPollute (1/6) ⬇️
Our leading medical institutions have also called for the government to "End subsidies for oil and gas extraction and redirect funds to green industry" @RCP @BMA @RCPsych@RCPCH and @RCOG

It is vital for human health that we get off fossil fuels as soon as possible in a just & fair transition for everyone. Failure to reach 1.5C would mean a 'catastrophic harm to health that will be impossible to reverse' -so said the @NEJM@BMJ@Lancet
