Reflections on my arrest today (a 🧵)

🧵 Today was about Americans right to reproductive choices. I’ve been arrested several times in between & I’m sure I’ll be arrested again when that’s what it takes to stand up for human rights.
🧵 In 1984, I was arrested protesting apartheid in South Africa outside the South African embassy with @ReElectNydia. I have always been proud to stand up for what is right even if that means getting arrested.

This is just the beginning. We will be back.

In all my years fighting for repro health, this is one of the most idiotic attacks I've seen. Women have the RIGHT to choose & to counsel that helps them make informed choices. @PPFA clinics are community pillars that serve ppl all across this country. 1/ npr.org/sections/healt…
42% of what @PPFA does is STI testing & treatment. Now, I can understand the confusion for @realdonaldtrump when allegedly he doesn’t know the difference between HPV & HIV. We know that facts & figures go over his head. 2/
.@VP may actually understand facts & figures, so here's something to think about: In IN, STI #'s skyrocketed when he withdrew funding from @PPFA. This admin isn't only waging war on women, but anyone who is different - especially those in poverty & it’s absolutely disgusting. 3/
