Legally thinking about #January6thHearing - so obviously this Committee has done a herculean job (over 1,000 witnesses have been interviewed in past 14 months) but the criminal investigation is at Dept of Justice and that is gargantuan. FAR FAR larger investigation than this
So to be clear, the DOJ investigation will have interviewed at least 90% of the people who spoke to Jan 6th Committee but DOJ will have interviewed many TIMES MORE people than this committee, and probably have 3x to 5x maybe 10x more evidence than this committee has seen
But almost all that this Committee has shown us, DOJ already had, and will get all of it of course, and DOJ has much more that will only be revealed once the criminals are brought to court.
That said, 3 fascinating details about the criminal investigation struck me from today
First is the revellation that some US Secret Service staffers have suddenly gotten lawyers. It may even mean, they have CHANGED attorneys (if once had Trump paid lawyers & now changed, that suggests a flip against Trump). In any case USSS side of this mess means more crimes
Secondly I was struck by the 'adult supervision' element, of how organized it was. We need Trump to do something, get Ivanka here. And we need Jared. So the level of how Trump's nearest staff would try to be the adults and if frustrated, brought in 'mom and dad' to control Trump.
And last I was liking the phone record details. So they know Giuliani's phone calls by length of call. This is what Jan 6th Cttee knows
Remember Rudy was under FBI wiretap (authorized by Bill Barr, who forgot to tell his boss Trump about it). So DOJ knows what Trump TOLD Rudy

Note. Bannon's trial was NOT about Jan 6th - he WILL face that trial too. This was about Bannon stupidly attempting to conceal his crimes
Let's do a quick Thread
First. Understand.. we know the 2 dozen organizers, plotters, planners of January 6th. They will ALL go to prison, for at least a decade, most for Life. Including the few who get plea bargains in the Grand #Flippathon
But today Bannon's guilty conviction is a BONUS for us. He becomes literally the first of the January 6th ORGANIZERS to go to prison. And as a bonus, this is EXTRA time in prison Bannon serves, above and beyond his role in January 6th because of this attempt to conceal his crimes
So I am seeing only a little bit of this so far, but this would make sense. Chechnya wanted to be independent of Russia, fought two wars about it. Putin crushed their hopes for independence unilaterally breaking a peace treaty & brutally massacreing them
Current Chechnya region is ruled by a warlord loyal to Putin, Kadyrov. There is a new 'civil war' type of conflict brewing in Chechnya as many locals hate Putin and Kadyrov. It would make sense as they see the weakness of Russian military, to resume conflict into 3rd Chechen War
History: First Chechen War was 1994-1995, after Soviets retreated from Afghanistan, and a catastrophic failure to Soviets (Russians) which gave Chechnya semi-autonomy but not independence
Putin as Prime Minister broke that peace treaty, launched Second Chechen War 1999-2000

Trump
Thinking politically about #January6thHearing - the audience was not Trump supporters (are brainwashed, this won't help) or Democrats (would not vote for Trump anyway). It was for middle voters, IND voters. Very well arranged for prime time, using Trump own people & Republicans
The use of prominent Republicans & conservatives, Mitch McTurtle, Qevin McCoward in their own words condemning Trump; references to Nixon, Reagan & Margaret Thatcher. Only 2 Democrats mentioned President Biden & praising Al Gore's concession speech. All aimed at IND middle voters
And a systematic presentation to voters of military thinking & law enforcement (parts of conservatives and IND voters) so both panel members are ex military including one of two witnesses covering Air Force, Navy & Marines. Plus several quotes from senior military officers
Well Mr Ahonen, we have the results here of the aptitude tests that you took & from them we've built up a clear picture of the sort of person that you are. I can say, without fear of contradiction, that the ideal job for you is Twitter accountancy
But I am a Twitter accountant?
Well, jolly good for you. Back to the office, then
No no you don't understand. I've been a Twittered accountant for the last fourteen years. I want a new life for myself; something exciting that will let me live
Well Twitter accountancy is quite exciting, isn't it?
Quick math on Russia's losses in the 5 months of their invasion into Ukraine:
38,750 dead soldiers = 20% of the invasion army
(note injuries far more than this = total casualties)
1,700 tanks destroyed = 29% of the invading tanks
3,905 APCs = 51% of the..
856 artillery = 23%
And as Russia's military losses in its '3 day war' now reaching 5 months are unsustainable, Russia has resorted to reactivating mothballed museum relics, sent to the failing army fighting in Ukraine
Russia has been sending T 62 tanks (50 year old) that have already seen combat
With half their armored fighting vehicle fleet already destroyed by Ukraine, Russia is sending 70 year old armored personnel carriers, with armor so thin you can penetrate it with water pistol - these pre-historic MT-LBs have started to appear as replacement armor
