The leader of the newly formed People's Union of #Gagauzia, Viktor Petrov (thread on him coming later) just gave a lengthy and very revealing speech 👇
At the beginning of his speech, Petrov took a page out of the 1990s playbook, and claimed that the Russian speaking population of Gagauzia were suffering from vicious "Romanianization"
He criticised the authorities for pulling #Moldova closer to #NATO & #EU which would ultimately violate the countries sovereignty & neutrality. Unsurprisingly, he called for Moldova to have closer ties with its historic friend: #Russia
Finally, Petrov also said that #Gagauzia is at a critical juncture, and the people should be ready to show Moldova that they are willing to defend their region
